How hard does he throw?
I'd say 94 comfortably. I'd imagine he's gonna sit a tick higher as he's been said to get to 97. All out max efforts don't impress me much but If he's able to sit mid 90's with that slider..he's gonna be devastating. His curve (I think) looked good...hangs a little but will be tightened up.

Saw on Twitter we lead MLB in draft picks who have reached the majors in the last 5 years with 16. I was curious and wanted to see who the 16 were.

I mentioned this awhile back. Despite people like Enscheff trashing our drafting philosophy and our farm as a whole and pimping up the Dodgers.

That 16 is a bit misleading. 5 of those guys have an fwar of 2 or higher.. most on that list are negative war. Calling up guys just to cover bad roster decisions, doesn't mean a team's farm is great.

now to counter that 7 of those guys were sent to other teams to garner some other level of talent. So like in the case of Grissom, his -6 war was used to get a Cy young winning pitcher that will probably hit 7 war this season alone.

People will always look for "data" that proves their point of view. This time it's "the Braves farm is really good", but any non-homer knows it has been pretty bad, and has improved to mediocre now.

It looks better when you realize kids like Swelly, Strider, Shea, and Harris didn't even make top 100 lists by the time they made the leap to the majors and had success.

If the evaluators were on those guys early like we were, they'd have been ranked in the top 10 their debut years.

I think it is fair to say the system is better than any ranking has given it the last 4 or so years.. especially considering, like you said, that it has produced 3 monster players who look to post 3+ War when healthy.

It also might be producing another quality hitter (Baldwin) when it seems there are never any hitters at any level.

Getting to the majors is a feat itself. And 6 average or better players in a 5 year span is likely better than 80% of the league too

This is seems wrong by any objective standard but you are entitled to the opinion.

Although to be fair, you made a different statement than what the person you responded to said.

He said the Braves drafting is a lot better than it's been given credit for. You made a comment about the system.

But I suspect the best way to evaluate a system remains the output of actual players rather than some opinion piece on fangraphs.

The way I’m looking at it is if we have 1 “keeper”and 1 top tier trade piece per draft we’re not doing too bad. I think we’re accomplishing that.
