2025-2026 offseason thread

Nico Hoerners name is getting thrown around. He has one pre year of control left and doesn't have much power but the dude can hit and gets on base while playing GG defense. If it weren't for Dansby he'd by at SS.

The payroll currently sits at $238M, which is almost exactly where it was at its peak in 2024. There is a very real possibility the roster is complete, with the most likely addition being a legit (but unspectacular) SP that could bring the total to around $250-$255M...which would likely be Top 5 in MLB.

Folks might want to start preparing to cheer on this roster in 2026...

Zips isn't out for everybody yet. But Steamer has that group with 88-89 wins.

My MLB umpire buddy just returned from the Winter Meetings and he confirmed that the Braves offered a near exact deal for Diaz that the Dodgers did. I'm honestly happy with the way that everything turned out since we didn't lose our pick, but they were definitely all-in on an impact reliever.

A good, not great/elite SP and SS, and we're good. Idk if you spend 31 on Iggy and Suarez if you cant add to the rotation and get a legit SS. Love Dubon as the backup IF'er, dont love him starting.

Would have liked Diaz, losing that Baldwin pick for him though.. If true, idk.

Agreed. If he was strapped for cash he wouldn't have spent what he did on who he did. If Dubon is the super utility guy and we get a legit SS (I think we will) then it's been a really good offseason.

I'm just some dude, but I feel very confident it's true. He's super plugged in and attended the Winter Meetings. He talks with many of these execs constantly. I'm just lucky we went to school together and he likes me lol

Feinsand and others said we were in on Diaz as well, so i believe it's true. It was losing the pick for Diaz that would have bothered me.

He also talked to Walt Weiss who said the guys are fired up. He mentioned Olson, Ronnie and Riley as being ready to start the season already lol he said the team legitimately loves Walt and vouched for him hard during the process.

That makes me think there's still a chance they use it on Suarez, Valdez or King. I prefer they keep it, but definitely worth keeping in mind since AA was ready to part with it.

I saw where Boras said that Kim likes Weiss and his time in Atlanta. It wouldn't surprise if they work something out. Also AA must still have a good bit to work with checking in on Seager bc he knows how much he costs.

I’ve actually come around a bit on Weiss. I think they’ve surrounded him with a great supporting coaching cast. He’s also sounded pretty good in the interviews and saying all the right things about analytics and learning, etc… I think he may surprise us. I certainly won’t fault him for not succeeding in Colorado.
