Ok, in 2022, who all started vs Philly in playoffs?
Morton, Fried, Wright, and Strider. Our 4 best starters.

2023 was what I was thinking of. 2022 was certainly set up rightMorton, Fried, Wright, and Strider. Our 4 best starters.

So we had 2 starters. ThanksWe had Strider X 2, Fried, and Elder.
Strider not being elite and the offense shitting the best lost us that series. Not the lack of SP depth.
After last year and the way the offense performed I'll agree that the depth should have been better especially with Acuna set to miss the first couple of months but Profar getting busted for PED couldn't be forseen either. If Harris would have played to expectations and Profar wouldn't have been out then we probably wouldn't even be having this conversation bc we wouldn't have seen White and the others for so long. AA was definitely handcuffed on spending this offseason for the most part. The fact the Braves suffered insurmountable injury problems does not excuse the fact that there was zero depth to withstand any injury problems. Proper MLB depth may have had this team in a position to not be sellers at the deadline in hopes that Sale/Schwelly coming back in Sept could lead a playoff surge.
Now that there was quite literally zero MLB depth, even when everyone KNEW Acuna would be out early and Arcia was likely crap, there was no hope of covering for any injuries. It's ok to have a couple AAAA players, but half the position player group is AAAA players, which is completely unacceptable.
The 23 playoffs was 100% on the offense and it's not even debatable so you can't put that one to bed.So we had 2 starters. Thanks
This is just dumb. I don't excuse stupid moves by snit when they happen to just work out by blind luck and I won't for AA either. AA and snit's job is to put the braves in the best position to succeed, and having AAAA guys starting playoff games isn't that.We scored 8 runs in 4 games after breaking most offensive MLB records.
- Game 1: Phillies 3, Braves 0
- Game 2: Braves 5, Phillies 4
- Game 3: Phillies 10, Braves 2
- Game 4: Phillies 3, Braves 1
3 contested games. Who started for the braves in the blow out?We scored 8 runs in 4 games after breaking most offensive MLB records.

Elder was a good pitcher in 2022. It may have been smoke and mirrors, but he was most definitely an above average pitcher. Still, I think everyone mentioned we should have grabbed a more reliable starter at the deadline for the stretch run.So we had 2 starters. Thanks
They have had some exceptions with Harris (at least until this year) and Baldwin, but they haven't had widespread success developing hitters in the draft. Jury is out on Alvarez and he's young. Langeliers got traded and is doing alright as is Durbin (who developed in the Yankees' system). And don't anyone say Grissom. I'm relatively sure they thought guys like Conley would at least be a utility guy, but he hasn't hit at all (which is odd seeing that his hit tool is what got him drafted as high as he did). I would just as soon see if Waddell could contribute. He's not an everyday SS, but he's a LHH. They just haven't had quality depth in the high minors for what seems like forever. The fact the Braves suffered insurmountable injury problems does not excuse the fact that there was zero depth to withstand any injury problems. I don't think most people were calling for a starter last year. Everyone was relatively healthy and Strider was effectively replaced by Schwelly. Entering the deadline, we had Fried, Sale, Lopez, and Schwelly relatively healthy and pitching well. And Morton was more than an adequate No. 5. What we were asking for was a big bat to replace Acuna or a SS to replace Arcia. We never got it.2021: wright, Wilson (more forgivable though bc of deep run)
2022: no issues
2023: elder
2024: AJSS
In 2023 and last year, this board was calling for adding a starter. AA didn't, and we had a AAAA player out there
You're right it is dumb. Dumb that you keep crying 24/7 about the exact same thing. It's like somebody but a broken record on repeat. The offense shit the bed in 23 and that's just a proven fact. It wasn't the pitchings fault. This is just dumb. I don't excuse stupid moves by snit when they happen to just work out by blind luck and I won't for AA either.
