"Off the charts" hyperbole aside, he looks to have a 55+ FA, 60+ CU, and a CH/FS that looks to flash at least 50.
Pair that arsenal with 45 command and we are looking at a #3/#4 right now. Tweak that command up to 50 and it's a legit #3. If the command gets to 60 before the stuff starts declining he is a legit #2 with arguments about being an Ace.
Gamecast has now claimed he has thrown four seamer, Cutter, Slider, Curve, Splitter, and now this inning some 94 mph Sinkers.
Yeah, the 'off the charts' was definitely hyperbole. But if you're just talking pure stuff on the fastball/curve/splitter (since the command grade is separate), that seems like those grades at least could be a bit low. The fastball could be a 60, the curve could be 65-70, the splitter could be a 55, and suddenly it's a totally different profile. The likelihood of all 3 of those grading out at those levels aren't high, but even a couple of them being a tick better than you list makes a huge difference.
80 grade bloop!!!
His walks in Friday were his first since July 2nd
That's just not gonna work
80 grade bloop!!!
I actually don't think the Swanson trade was all bad for Dave Stewart. I mean he might have been able to get more value out of those guys than he got, but a fourth OF, a #1 pick they had already soured on and a back end rotation prospect wasn't so much to give up for what they I guess thought was a #3 starter. They rightly thought they were pretty close to winning it.
But trading Touki for cash and Phil Gosselin is an all time head scratcher for me. Glad Coppy was there to make both of those trades. No one else was.
