Are the Braves as hopeless as it may seem?

Giants won two World Series in that same span. If the Braves were great what were the Giants? If great is winning zero playoff series, I don't know what the word is to describe what the Giants were.

As to the original question, I'll be shocked if we lose fewer than 90 games.

This is looking like the mid to late 1980s again, unfortunately.

Unless you think postseason is a better representation of the quality of a team than the previous 162 games... which I do not.

Why do people compete at anything?

The MLB playoffs is like shooting a thousand jumpers in your lifetime and then at some point having to make 1 jumper to save your life. All those jumpers you've previously practiced give you a better chance to make that jumper, but the odds of hitting it are still 40%.

Only y9u are shooting those jumpers against great teams with better defenders so hitting that jumper at the same percentage in the playoffs is actually a greater acheivement.

So you think the World Series winner is always the best team in all of baseball?

Not always but we aren't talking about a brave team that won it 1 out of 10 years. We are talking about a team that historically always comes up short. Especially the most recent version.

I would take another 14 division title streak over 1 World Series and 10 years of suck. I'd rather watch a good baseball team for 6 months every year than stare at a trophy for the same period of time.
