Braves acquire RHP Touki Toussaint & Bronson Arroyo for Filthy Phil Gosselin

Looks like a great deal.

I'd actually considering picking up Arroyo's option for next year

Better chance we trade him to a contender at the waiver deadline, or use him if we somehow stay in contention.

I'd add Briceno to the Catcher list... He is struggling now but has shown a big bat before and lots of players struggle at their first stop at a level.

missing the Cuban we signed this year that hasn't played and the prospect we got in the kimbrell deal that hasn't played. Why havent they played

Those visa issues were supposedly cleared up in May. But red tape can be sticky.

Bello, the Cuban catcher signed at the end of last year, was cut at the end of spring training. The Padres signed him in May.

Jordan Paroubeck has never played above rookie ball level, so he figures to be in Danville. He's still only 20.

Yepez is the one I'm excited about... He should start short season ball soon. And who knows, we may have something good in Toscano if he ever plays minor league ball

Look I am mad that we took on Stultz and Cahill, obviously you know where they gone to. Arroyo is not even in Cahill's territory. I am mad about salary, but after reading posts, we wanted that pitcher with potential, so we paid for it.

Beat me up, I don't care, just letting you know why I was not happy at first.

NOW I AM HAPPY!!! So screw you.

Oh Runnin, HAPPY FATHERS today to you. You are a great man. I appreciate the advice you give me.

Happy Father's Day to all!!!

As expected, the Braves assigned Touki Toussaint to Rome.

I'd rather tender Mike Minor a contract next season then pick up Arroyo's option. Mike Minor actually could come back and pitch well for us and regain his value. Arroyo is 90 years old.

Very solid deal. You can bring arroyo next year to eat innings and then move him to another team too.

I like Arroyo a lot - always have - but somebody's got to sell me he's worth $13m.

I suppose you could say $4.5m is spent already, a sunk cost. Would you rather spend the next eight on Arroyo or somewhere else?

As weso said, i'd tender Minor and see if he is worth anything, instead of give Arroyo that much money.

Around 6.5 this year and he has a Buyout for 3.5 at the end of the year.

I understand we got another pitching prospect. Yay!! Doesn't make sense for the Braves to eat salary for a guy who more than likely doesn't ever pitch here.

I think the most the Braves can hope for from Arroyo is either that he comes back early and provides enough value that they can move him for a menial prospect/financial relief, or that he contributes a few useful innings to the team down the stretch. I don't see much of a need for him in 2016 given our surplus of arms.

Yeah, there are a lot of options that need a chance. It won't be before long till Banuelos and Jenkins are ready. Heck, Banuelos might be ready now to pitch in the big leagues. Braves should continue to generate internal pitching and focus monetary resources on the lineup.

Someone in a D-Backs forum (not sure if he has a source or not) mentioned they were likely going to make a move for an ace before the deadline and needed the payroll flexibility.

It makes complete sense. We didn't waste any money at all that will be available in the budget for contention years.

They dont even have that large of a payroll and they arent even .500 yet.

And they just signed a 1.2 billion TV deal, money shouldnt be a problem....
