Braves in on Yasmany Tomas

At this stage, would rather have Harang back than Peavy. Call it superstition.

I'm not so sure I would. But, I think Harang would love to be back. It's a very good rotation either way. Are we just out of the Lester running now? haha

If we have interest in Peavy, I seriously hope they give his Lester package some thought.

braves also in seeing tomas (along w/ padres). giants likely only involved w/tomas if red sox or pads beat them for panda.

The rumored return is Taijuan Walker. Suddenly the Braves rotation would be:

Teheran (24)

Wood (24)

Walker (22)

Minor (27 old man!)

Miller (24)

Talk about a young and talented rotation...

And cheap, I think the total cost for all 5 would be like $10M this year.

Id take that rotation any day

Atlanta-area buffets and steakhouses strongly agree.

The steakhouses, yes. But the buffets? Aaron Harang has personally driven 13 all-you-can-eat Atlanta buffets out of business. Aaron Harang is the monster buffet owners tell their children about when they misbehave.

I'm not sure it's in the thread...it probably is, but the Texas Rangers and Houston are bidding too? Profar, Gallo and Nick Williams are names I'm familiar with, but I don't remember the make up of a trade with them. I'm still wanting to hold out for the M's. They match up and have what we want.

That we traded Heyward two weeks before Thanksgiving is a joke. So mind-numbing that I'm pretty much assuming Hart can't possibly be stupid enough not to have a plan to get us some offense.

Who cares when he made the deal? He liked his return. I do, too. Do you? You think he could have waited and gotten something better than a top of the rotation pitcher and the AFL MVP? 'Cause I think that's a pretty good deal. Certainly good enough that he shouldn't be castigated as a joke or stupid.

A lot of us are frustrated or disappointed with last year. In hindsight, it was a pretty logical outcome, though certainly on the low side of possibilities...but the guy who built that is gone. Hart isn't the same guy. I can remember watching Miller in the playoffs his first season and wishing we had him. Now we do.

Let's see how the offseason goes before we bury him. He thinks there's value in the Latin American market, he's building the AA-AAA levels off the organization, he doesn't think he can afford long term deals to Upton and Heyward, so he's flipping them for value. You can't say after every move, well, that leaves a hole, and he hasn't addressed x. He's not done yet. And he's been candid enough- perhaps smart enough- to tell us he doesn't know where he's going to find the most value yet.

Patience, Grasshopper.

It's like complaining about the first move in a game of checkers. Let the man do his job and save your complaining for when the season begins.

I kinda agree with number one, this is a pretty weak market for hitters.

Once all of them are gone, lot of teams would be in on Jason.

Maybe McDowell can turn Miller into a #2, maybe an ace.

And Jenkins is a stud.

But i do think there were better offers out there if they waited it out.

But no we jump at the first decent offer we get and throw in a very good late inning reliever on top of it with no offensive value coming back in return. Then Hart says we don't have the money to have extended him. Then we are having a meeting with Lester, a 31 year old pitcher who will command a huge contract. Then we are talking about trading Justin for more pitching and still have yet to address an offense that's becoming weaker.

But that's also a lot of potential suitors gone. You're boned either way. At least by trading him before the FA market is set, you can guarantee more teams interested in trading for him
