Interesting note on mlbtraderumors...David ross and lester hit it off in 2013 and will possibly meet after thanksgiving to talk about teams that would be a good fit.

Always been a big advocate of bringing ross back

David Ross was one of my favorite players when he was with the Braves. He pretty much sucks at the plate now, but if it meant getting Lester, I would be glad to see him as his personal catcher. He could bring great leadership to the team (much needed) and would be a perfect mentor for Bethancourt. His lack of offense wouldn't hurt much if we paired him with Lester.

Not sure the Giants' pursuit of Lester wouldn't turn out to be the best thing for us in the long run...

Assuming Panda goes to Boston and the Giants outbid the Cubs for Lester, our path could become pretty clear.

1.) Upton for Walker (other pieces to fill out the package on both sides if necessary) to fill out the rotation for a long time.
2.) Spend the money on Tomas and Moncada.
3.) Let Texas know that we've still got Gattis and that he could be had for their choice of Profar or Nick Williams and Jake Thompson.

Tire kicking. It would be absurd for us to offer Lester.

Unless Minor is used to get rid of BJ.

I wouldn't say it is absurd depending on the offer, other moves, etc. Plus I expect Mike Minor to be traded at some point. But it will probably be better to wait on him rather than sell low on him now. If he bounces back this year I can see him moved before the trade deadline or next off-season. And I am not ruling out this off-season as Texas is asking the Braves about Justin Upton and a pitcher. So maybe they'll try to get Mike Minor in package deal with Justin Upton.

Note, I am not saying I want to trade Mike Minor. I just see the writing on the wall with him, that's all. He is actually one of my favorite Brave starters personally. If healthy he should bounce back this year.

I really didn't think having surgery on his dick would be that big a deal, long term. I mean, there's the stark terror of having someone take a blade to your little soldier, but I would have thought after a suitable time to "button up", as it were, he'd be back where he was.

With the exception of one hot streak, he was pretty flaccid.

Hahaha, so are you saying that somehow led to Minor's inflammation in his pitching shoulder injury in Sept? Just kidding man I knew what you meant. :)

Come on people, enough with the non-monetary angle on FA signings. Lester just turned down a $110M+ offer from Boston. If he were really more interested in being all warm and comfy in Atlanta there would already be a deal in place.

I swear, every offseason you people insist on holding out hope for a FA signing that has 0% chance of ever happening.

Oh cool, Lester's cousin's wife's hairdresser lives in Atlanta, and family is the most important thing to him. That means he will sign for $18M per year to play for the Braves after passing up $22M per year from Boston. Riiiiiight....

I heard that Jason Heywards wants to stay in Atlanta because he grew up here and is willing to take a discount...same goes for Brian McCann...and Gary Sheffield wants to retire a Brave as he loves it here and the clubhouse....and Zach Grienke grew up loving the Braves and would absolutely thrive in the low pressure environment...and Tim Hudson grew up in the south and has way too much invested to leave here...and I could go on and on and on.

Lester didn't reject Boston's $110MM offer, he's just currently in the process of visiting all of the teams which have expressed an interest in making a multi-million dollar investment in him and then will make a decision (many believe before the Winter Meetings).

Hanley Ramirez just took a below market value deal to play with the Red Sox. It's not a foreign concept.
