Braves Statistical Analysis

The chances of the Braves being a playoff team AND Grilli being effective next year are less than the chances of both those instances not being the case. Grilli is 38 years old.

They're probably in 1st place right now in a rebuilding year if they had a stable pen.

There's at least 5-7 games they lost solely because the bullpen sucks ass.

Making the playoffs next year isnt that crazy, but you're a Nats fan, so i can see why you dont think they could.

Even good pens blow games. I seriously doubt we'd be 5-7 games better if we had last years pen.

The 13-12 game, two of the Nats games in DC, the Blue Jays game they lead early, pen blew, along with others they win or have a better shot at with a decent pen.

Yup. We automatically win all of those and lose none of the others.

But even if he was terrible this year it doesn't matter bc we're not a playoff team. That's frustrating that we're wasting prime years on guys for a punt year

I get that. But with out payroll constraints, we would have been wasting even more years after Heyward and J-Up left in FA at the end of the year. We would have had no one to replace them with in the minors, along with no pitching.

Sure it is. Would a better pen make us better overall? Yes. But it's not what's holding us back from being a division winner.

Division winner? Likely not. Wild card contender? I certainly think so. The Royals last year showed that great pitching can go a long ways, even with poor hitting (and our hitting isn't poor, just not that good).

Sure. But some are making it out like we'd be among the best teams in the league with a good pen.

No, that exactly the point. And how many games have other teams bullpens blown?

Plenty, just stating with a better pen we'd have more wins.

It's pretty obvious our biggest weakness is the bullpen.

Our starting pitching isn't amazing either. Sure Miller and Wood have rocked. Folty has been turning it around. But yeah Julio has sucked so far, Cahill, Stults and others have sucked.

The rotation since replacing Stults, Cahill with Folty/Perez has been alot better.

I'm still worried about Julio tho i agree.

We have the 12th best offense in the NL and the 12th best starting pitching so far this year. But yeah, relief is lut problem and improved relievers would put us in first place.

Pretty much what you do with thethe, admitting defeat and saying stuff that dont make sense.

What Peterson seems to be is an average hitter for his position and above average defender. If you can check your expectations at the door, you should be quite happy with that type of player (not so subtle allusion there about other Braves both past and present). I'd be quite happy to go to war (not WAR) with a lineup that consists mainly of players like that.

Peterson reminds me of lemke. Not great but a usable player

Really?

Name the posters and examples, no one has said that.

You yourself said we're likely in first place and would have 5-7 more wins. 5-7 more wins would put the Braves at 31-33 wins. Which would either be the 2nd most or tied for the most wins in the leauge. I think that would qualiy as one of the best teams. So yes you apparently beleive with a good pen we are one of the best teams in the league.
