Braves trade CJ for Swisher, Bourn, $$$

Why would the Indians put Bourne in the deal? Why would they want Chris Johnson?

I'll say this: after making a series of very expected deals this off-season, Hart has really tried his hand at the unexpected with his mid-season trades.

Interesting. If Bourn and Swisher play decently it will be a good trade. Braves weren't gonna spend much of that money for anything decent this offseason anyway.

The Indians save $9 Million.

The Braves get 1.5 years of Bourn for $9 Mil.

This is without knowing details on the cash they included. It's likely the cost will be pretty similar on both sides; it just means we want to have more cash available for 2017 and the Indians likely want to have more available for 2016.

From what I have read on MLBTR, Braves are getting 10 Mill back. Which balences the money. Meaning the Braves have the extra 10 mill to spend for 2017.

So I'm guessing this takes is out of the bidding for a TOR starter this offseason or am I wrong?

Ahhhhh, I did forget about the hometown/favorite team discount that a few have been talking about

I expect the OF to be Bourn-Maybin-Markakis.

That's not bad defensively.

It actually is. Bourn hasn't been even average over the past 3 years. Markakis and Maybin are both fairly bad.

I just read up on it. Looks like you're making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I wasn't making anything out of it. Certainly not a mountain. My comment was mostly about the acquisition of Bourn making Maybin expendable.

I included the $10 Mil in the this chart. If you include the remainder of this year's money, the Braves will lose about $9 Million.

Hmm, that is true, 10 mill would lead to a loss for the Braves, but on Twitter they are saying the money is offset... so, we will see.
