The problem with this ruling going against Fox is that it would open up every news channel for being sued. You really wouldn't want to see what would happen to CNN and NY Times in a red state court house or possibly blue one with a conservative judge.

Maybe that would be a good thing. Maybe that would lead to just reporting news with no slants.
It would create a situation that any news company could be sued into nonexistence. It would do more harm than good.

Apparently these 1000 dollar an hour lawyers Fox hired thought it was a better idea to admit all these allegations were false rather than present this mountain of evidence you say exists. Surely you know better.

Fox will probably settle for 500 million to 1.5 billion after losing the first trial. I dont even think a conservative majority in the SC would rule in Fox's favor on this.

Again, you are purposefully misunderstanding because reality conflicts with the narratives you want to push. Every news media is liable for pushing lies. They have been for a long time. Your lord and savior tried suing CNN and NYT. It was laughed out of court. For defamation to apply it has to meet few elements. First it has to be a lie. No your biased interpretation of the facts does not constitute a lie. Second, the people lying had to know they were lying. No, your biased opinion that they knew something was a lie is not evidence that works in a court of law. And third there has to be some damage done to the victim. If Dominion were to say something like "This Fox News fake narrative about us has made Dominion more popular than ever, our orders have skyrocketed since they started reporting about us", then it would be pretty hard to claim damage was done as a result of Fox News narrative.
Thanks for proving my point that the people who complain about the fake news would be the same people mad that fake news is being held accountable for being fake news. Its hilarious.

These are the same defamation laws that have been on the books for years. Nothing is changing. This isnt setting any new precedent. All these people are trying to draw false equivalents with media that they in their biased opinion dont like. Trump has already tried to sue the "leftwing media" and got laughed out of court.

Covington video was edited to show something that didn't happen. Fox is being punished for unpopular opinion.

I once had an argument with a kid when I was young who argued Jose Lima was a better pitcher than Greg Maddux. Lima had just won 22 games or so that year and led the majors. You consistently remind me of that argument. Would you want to take a guess as to why Fox News and News Max go into a panic when Googliani or whoever starts spouting off this Dominion BS aftr this lawsuit was filed? Clearly RINO globalist trying to keep the public from knowing the truth........ Sydney Powell wasnt on Fox news randomly saying **** about Dominion, that was the whole reason they brought her on in the first place. They knew what she was going to say because they do pre-interviews and they also knew her claims were BS BEFORE airing them.

I didnt follow that whole Covington case but they won only in the sense that it was cheaper to settle than fight the case. Fox is being sued for damaging a companies reputation with lies that they knew were lies when they aired them. The 1000 dollar an hour lawyers Fox have apparently dont think your evidence was worthy enough to argue that their statements were true. Have you ever considered getting a law degree? Surely you would be able to charge 2000 dollars an hour since you know defamation law better than the lawyers Fox hires.

Actually I would want any news organization that recklessly spreads "news" they know to be false to be open to being sued by any parties harmed by such recklessness.

I agree as well. They just like to insert their dislike of certain media as proof that something was a lie and that they knew it was a lie when telling it. They want their feelings to be evidence in court and throw a hissy fit because the reality doesnt match the narrative they want to push. I have even asked for these articles they claim were fake news and they never produce them. I dont remember these "Trump is going to prison as soon as the Mueller report is released and Hillary Clinton will be installed King of the World" articles they cry about.
