DRAFT IN PROGRESS THREAD ... What's past is preamble

That's understandable, but then you're also missing out on the elite talents who likely are only among the top 10 picks

That's just it.. I don't think the Braves believe there is that, for sure "can't miss" elite talent in this draft, therefore, they're going in this direction. If there was that elite talent, the strategy could have been employed differently.

Such a gamble to play this game though. Other teams have multiple picks and large draft pool that could derail this strategy. I wish they would have just taken Lewis. I don't think there's much argument that Groome, Puk, Lewis, Pint appear to be better talents.

That's fair, but I'm hearing the analysis of the ceilings of some of these top projected picks, and they obviously have tools a cut above

The more I think about it, the more disappointed I am. You suffer through the season the Braves did, your reward is a top pick to get a premium talent. We didn't do that

Marlins taking Braxton Garrett. I am high on this kid, and his name came up as a possible Braves pick at 3.

I'm fine with the pick based on his latest scouting report. Three plus pitches with mid 90's velocity, deceptive but repeatable delivery and advanced control/command for his age. I don't think it's absurd that the Braves had this guy on top of their pitching board. Sounds like top of the rotation potential to me.

I was super high on Markakis when he was drafted, alas we had no shot to draft him. I remember a lot of teams wanted him as a pitcher.

While I agree with the proposition that you want to go for upside with your early picks, when you have very early picks you can get both a high ceiling and a high floor. That's why I think the Moniak and Senzel picks were very smart and not too surprising.

I don't see the upside at all for Senzel. Questionable defense and no power.

If you want a comp, look at Zack Cox from Arkansas.
