We want young black men to feel safe and respected by the police force. That the police are their protectors. After all these black people are paying their salaries. I just do not feel that it was right to shoot so many times in a crowded neighborhood at a gunless man or to even try to kill Brown while he was fleeing the scene. Hey I get it that supposedly if Brown was trying to reach for Wilsons gun the officer was trying to stop him by reaching for his own weapon. But when Brown started running away the officer should have just let him go without shooting at him. Brown did not have a gun. It is not like he was going to turn around and get into a shoot out with Wilson. At that point when Brown was fleeing Wilson should have called/waited for backup so that Brown could be taken in alive. Then at the precinct use various ways that wont leave a mark on him to kick his ass. LOL guess that's why Im not a cop. But I've heard this is how its done in NJ......but you all did not hear it from me lol.

What happens if an innocent bystander was shot/killed by one of Wilson's stray bullets that went into the side of a building instead? When Brown was fleeing he was no longer a threat to Wilson. There was no need to turn Ferguson into the wild wild west. Shooting him that many times which resulted in Browns death was not the answer. It ultimately cost Wilson his job and ended a life (Brown). I just hate that good, hard working white (and even minority) cops who respectfully work with their communities are now being looked at as corrupt.

I've never been cursed at my a cop but I've been spoken to in a "dickish" manner before. I've said repeatedly that there is still racism in this country and that blacks do have it harder than most whites. But, the response to be more rude and non-responsive only hurts Blacks IMO. If people were more compliant or don't commit the crimes in the first place we would all be in a better spot.

No I watch it all from time to time...Cnn, Free SpeechTV, MSNBC, and even KKK-Fox News (I like to be kept up to date with racist and their news). But really don't get a chance to watch much TV since I'm helping to raise a special needs child who will never speak nor be able to be potty train. Im also out on the streets....you know actually doing things to stop black on black violence. Hmm are any of you guys doing anything like that to help others? Or are you just sitting by your computers each day chatting on Chop and watching KKK-Fox News?

Fleeing or charging.... still does not mean a black young man without a gun should have been shot so many times and killed. Ugh its ok guys. We are not going to agree on this and its ok. I respect your opinions. I should have never riled myself back up by coming back to this side of the board. Grrr damn me lol You all have a happy holiday season!!!!

As a daughter of a former police officer, I would expect you not to fall for this narrative that keeps getting pushed by the liberal media. Maybe the training back then was different then the training we receive today, but I was trained that you keep shooting until the threat is stopped. If that's 1 bullet, good. If that's 10 bullets, then so be it.
 
I was walking out of sheets one day and and a sheriff car drove by me... I said "What's up sheriff" (I was drunk).

The sheriff immediately stopped the car, got out of it... put his hand on his gun and said "what'd you say to me kid?"

Needless to say, I almost **** my pants. But at least I know he was protecting and serving me.

Its a shame that one bad cop has changed your views for your whole life.
 
I used to own a bar/billiards place a few years ago. Needless to say I've probably dealt with more bad cops than anybody on this board. However, most of the cops I met were pretty good people. I like how some of you hypocrites on this thread feel like it's okay to stereotype one group of people and that stereotyping another group that you favor is off limits.

Haha. I was lucky. I got one of the non-murdering cops!

I started a cops thread on this board. Posted links to all of the horror stories of cops abusing their power. Didn't get much attention from the cop suckers, so I stopped.

I used to be like you and thought the cops and our government can do no wrong. Then I realized that's what a brainwashed child thinks... and 90% of this stupid country

I wonder when I made that statement or shared that belief. I've actually been very against the government with their domestic policies.

No. It's just that most people realize that stereotyping a whole group of people for the actions of a few is wrong.

Not really. It's just technology is advancing and it's getting better at catching bad cops. NYPD was much more corrupt in the 60's and 70s than it is now. Watch that movie on Frank Serpico to see what I'm talking about. Just a quick question. Black on white crime is high in this country. MUCH higher than cops assaulting innocent people. Should I be prejudiced against black people? Do you see what I'm getting at about stereotyping?

One of my best friends in the world is a cop. I don't think all cops are bad. My issue is is that the bad cops aren't punished - they aren't held accountable. My issues is that our police force is being militarized. My issue is that we have free speech zones. And that protesters are arrested, or pepper-sprayed, or worse. My issue is that EVERY DAY I could find a story on a despicable action by a police officer. And yet half the country will be fine with it.

By the way - the buddy I spoke of earlier... he tells me stories about how he gets other cops' families out of trouble... just recently got a cop's wife out of a DUI... What a great guy.

I think he is a ****ty cop. He should be fired. You shouldn't be getting people off because they're your friends. You shouldn't be absolved from killing someone because you're a cop. Enough - these guys should fired and put in prison. Their punishments should be worse than civilians.

And lastly, I'm sick of "do what I tell you to or you're going to be in a lot of trouble" mentality our cops have today. I used to post those videos of folks displaying their rights and the cops just beat the **** out of them for it. Then folks like GF and thethe come in and say "if you just do what you're told you don't get hurt." That's not the society I want to live in.
