Golf Thread [2017: The Open at Royal Birkdale]

Just because he isn't the button up proper guy?

Because he likes women a little too much?

I only got into golf about 4 years ago so I don't know too much of this history with Tiger.

He is the button up proper guy or at least that's what his robot ass was programmed to be.

He is a dick. Dick to his caddie, to his friends, etc... He whines, and bitches and moans...

Read the Hank Haney book about his time teaching him. Weird dude.

My pool includes:

Day
Speith
Rory
Kuchar
Bubba
Walker

Id say first day went pretty well.

You explain his actions as "liking women a little too much?"

I think John Feinstein said Tiger is the most miserable (or 2nd most miserable after Bobby Knight) figure he has ever encountered in his career covering pro sports. I read the Haney book and it does paint the picture of a weird dude. I couldn't stand Tiger before his private life became public...that was just icing on the cake.

I don't even care about that the whorin' himself out. He is a big cry baby and a class A jerk.

I dont mind if Spieth wins, great player, but would at least like to have some drama on Sunday.

Looking like a prime Tiger major where he laps the field.

Congrats to Jordan but did anyone else think it was a LITTLE boring.

The best part of the Masters/majors is the final back nine push.

There wasnt anyof that today.

I thought it was boring, no one ever threatened. I like the drama , but cannot complain about who won. Great showing.

If you were the richest most well known athlete in the world, you would remain faithful and true? Hell nah. I wouldn't have gotten married though, or would have married someone who didn't care if I cheated.

I was going to write this in the Mayweather/Pacquiao thread but forgot so I'll just write it here.

There's some irony to the fact that Pacquiao and Tiger's game respectively has dropped in the last few years. When Pacquiao was cheating on his wife, drinking, gambling, etc. he was destroying every opponent in the ring. It's only in the last 2-3 years when he became a converted Born-Again Christian that he started slowing down and dominating less.

The same for Tiger. When he was cheating on his wife with 50 mistresses, guy was winning tournaments and winning majors. After he got caught, had to deal with the stress of the public image, etc. his game dropped off. He's seemed to hit a huge mental block since then on the golf course, not converting shots he was sinking with ease years ago.

Now I'm not endorsing they gotback to those lifestyles, Tiger probably can since he "broke-up" with Lindsay, but both athletes had a certain edge to them. Guys like them who are in physical peak shape in their respective sports must have testosterone through the roof. Even some of the media darlings who we perceive as good guys like Steve Nash have been caught cheating on their wives too.

One can say it's age catching up to them, but Mickelson is still winning majors or at least finishing near the Top past 40, Mayweather is 38 and still in pretty decent shape. Bonds, Kobe, even our very own Chipper. There's something about being an elite athlete in your sport, and the ego it allows you to have to get to sleep with all of these women.
