Michael Harris Extension Reportedly Coming

I was there in early July and stayed at Omni. The Battery was slammed 2 hours before and at least an hour after. There were a bunch of fans at the omni as well so there was smaller crowds wandering around hours before the game (eating, shopping, stadium tours)... What I noticed more than anything from when I was there two years ago was the condos.. They have a lot of extended stay/living areas all around that park. Only thing I think that is missing is some level of mass transit.. but not sure that is in the works..

Yes. That place is printing money. Will be interesting to see what they do with connecting to MARTA.... not going to touch the reasoning why they wouldn't do this.

also.... the talent... RIDICULOUS.

This is a ridiculous argument. Im sure they were ecstatic about the deals at the time. But we they've seen more and more of their peers getting paid way more, including their own teammates, you don't think it makes them at all upset?

You - more importantly THEY - can't possibly hold the organization responsible for that.

They can be *issed off at themselves, fire their agents for not seeing the changes coming when the new CBA was negotiated, whatever.

NO ONE put a gun to their head and said "please take these millions of dollars so we don't have to shoot you". MLB contracts are fully guaranteed (unlike those in the other professional sports), and players negotiate the best ones they possibly can for themselves at the time they're signed. The world changes everyday, but more often than not it's the teams that overpay instead of the player not getting "enough" when long-term commitments get worked out.

Players that are more interested in "maximizing their value" than taking piles of money to play where they're comfortable/their families are happy/winning/love going to work every day often wind up regretting that choice for a long time - ask Freddie Freeman.

If you haven’t been to the stadium then you need to check it out. The battery is amazing and stays packed and the food is excellent. Just a cool atmosphere and it’s just gonna get bigger. It’s an amazing time to be a Braves fan right now.

team owns the parking situation there. So that’s a big reason why they’d hesitate to allow MARTA.

MARTA expansion has been voted down a few times around the perimeter. Gains steam then loses.

There is risk on both sides of those contracts. And I think Acuna and Albies both see that with the injuries they have had recently. Acuna is still not 100% back from his ACL and Albies is coming back from the broken foot. If those injuries happen a year or two before FA, that could definitely effect their total package given.

This… I have rarely felt an atmosphere as electric as the Battery before game 6 of the NLCS last year

I'm really liking what AA is doing here with the hitters. I find it interesting that he is smartly not doing this with the starting pitchers. I suspect Friend will probably be the only one that gets a multi-year deal, and nowhere near the years the hitters are getting.

I was one drunk button click away from renting a room and being at the Battery for game 6 last year.. but I somehow talked myself out of it. Not sure if I am happy or still mad at myself for it.

Would be nice to have that money if the economy continues to tank, but don't think there's any way I'd trade the experience.

Fans on the Mets message board saying AA
Should be investigated on this deal. 🤣🤣

Everytime we sign someone, Mets fans think AA should be arrested. Maybe players just wanna stay in Atlanta and the money is what it is.

Certainly some risk here, and the club options arent even that bad at 15 and 20 million for his age 30-31 seasons. His defense should more than make up for his value if his hitting regresses a bit, but this is smart for AA. I am curious if AA does anything with the pitchers, all the extensions have been hitters. Fried has two more years for his age 29-30 age seasons. Soroka would be an interesting case as well.
