What does that have to do with RW at UCLA? Since again, you don't watch college basketball.....

You don't even know what type of player RW is right now. This is from draft express:

- Outstanding defender
- Versatility to defend multiple positions
- Energy/Intensity
- Late bloomer
- Role-player potential

- Athleticism
- Excellent first step
- Freakish athleticism
- Wingspan
WEAKNESSES:
- All-around offensive polish
- Mid-range game
- Not a true point guard
- Ability to create own shot
- Average ball-handler
- Not ready to contribute immediately
- Tweener?

His mid-range game was not good in college. He was not able to create his own shot consistently in college. The reports are all there. I am reading reports of people that watched him consistently in college and I am comparing it to what I watch 90+ times per year.

So he's improved his ability to create own shot......and ?

I guess contributed right of way.

edit: Westbrook's mid range game still sucks.

He is a very good ball handler. And he does have a nice mid-range game. You really just don't watch Westbrook play at all. His pull up jumper off the pick and roll is one of his best weapons.

Dude you're picking out 2 freaking things........mid range shot and creating his own shot and he's not even a good jump shooter........can we talk about the countless things that are still there?

Nobody thought RW would be able to be an NBA level PG and he is getting triple doubles now this year.

This year he will finish his fourth season in 6 years of getting 7+ assists per game. He was underdeveloped at UCLA. He barely even shot three pointers at UCLA and he is developing into at least an average to slightly below average 3 point shooter.

He has 2 triple doubles if Im not mistaken? I remember Andray Blatche getting or almost getting triple doubles, terrible "support."

3 point shooting would be encouraging if it could last, but seems like a sample size issue since it's only been in the last month worth of games or so.

NBADraft.net gave him a 95 as a grade

NBA.com did a survey of mock drafts, Westbrook averaged 6th in mock drafts.............OMG THE THUNDER TOOK A HUGE GAMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, its going to play out. RW was not considered to be a PG and after the end of the season nobody will be questioning that. I have seen RW his whole professional career. He is not close to the same player that he was when he was a rookie and I'd imagine he was even more raw in UCLA.

At some point you guys will open your eyes and realize that RW is a great POINT GUARD who makes his teammates better. Just turn on a game and see how many open shots he gets his team.

Certainly, he's a very good player. The issues (that every discusses) is that he wants to be a scorer and throws up too many ill advised shots and shoots a low percentage. He needs to stick to giving the ball to KD, drving to the basket, and playing defense.

I dont even think RW was PG at UCLA.

He was the 2 and Collison or Holiday was the PG, might be wrong about this though.

Or maybe he was PG and he played with Afflalo.

With RW its all been about constant evolution of his game. He has said numerous times that getting hurt actually helped him grow. These are comments after last night. Yes I know its just words and actions always speak louder but RW has been a spectacular passer so far this yera when he has played:

Westbrook on if he was trying to pass first tonight: “I just play off my instincts, man. I never come in trying to shoot first, pass first, rebound first. Just come in, play off instincts. Some guys help, I hit ‘em. If they don’t, I keep going.”

Westbrook was asked if he’s trying to prove anything to himself in getting back: “Just being smarter. That’s about it. I’m just trying to learn the game. I’ve sat out enough to be able to learn and see different things. And every game is different. My job as a point guard is to learn the game, and find ways to keep us winning.”

Then respected guys like Zach Lowe have repeatedly written that RW is turning into more of a pass PG.

Look, RW will never be the type of PG that CP3 is but HE SHOULDN'T be. He is a threat on the offensive side of the ball. That threat to score makes setting up his teammates better. The big on the PnR has to follow him and the picked player needs to follow underneath as well. Without that threat he wouldn't get all of his assists that he has been getting. But, the game is slowing down for him and he is showing some unbelievable ability with passing the ball. Once his minutes get back to his normal levels you are going to see 10+ on a consistent basis. Yes, he will have his games where he takes 20+ shots. So what...you take the some bad with the amazing amount of good that he brings.

Last year RW took 2 more shots per game than the next closest PG, 3 more per game from the 3rd closest.
