Neverending **** the Police thread.

I think the point has been made. Hopefully, George Floyd's funeral will provide a sense of catharsis. I don't want to say closure, because the underlying issues of equity for minorities are still there. But we can move to more of a what can we do to make things better phase.

Things will only get worse for minority communities as a result of this.

There is no where for the protesters to go to. No jobs. No bars. No society bc of that thingy that shut down all public sphere but is suddenly taking a break in order to combat racism

Trump, 1990 interview praising China, says all you need to know about his thought process on protests of any kind.

“When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength," Trump replied. "That shows you the power of strength.”

Thats the best quote you've got to come to the conclusion he praised chinas approach?

Considering we have audio of him on the governors call telling them they're weak and need to show strength and threatened to use the military to quell protesfs... I'm not sure if it's enough.

Shame for your viewpoint that the overwhelming majority of Americans agree with Trump in that respect.

Completely unsurprised to see who has had the worst takes in this thread. Anyway, great interview with Bryan Stevenson.

Wow that was a great article. 90% is exactly what I have been saying for years. The role police officers play has to change. I get that they wont like it but they can opt not to be a cop. The public cant opt out. Just about the only thing I didnt see mentioned was the need for teaching people the legal basics. Going to look up his task force report.

Who are these people? Not troops? Some wear codpieces,

others not. Helmets don't match. A few w/sunglasses, others not.

Short boots, high boots. A few Military Police shields. One guy in

back row on phone sharing something w/buddy. They all seem

to be white-our troops are not.

anyone that has been in military will attest how sacroscinct the uniform is. Lord knows I have the gigs to show for it.
Is it possible Trump and company have a private army ?

This could get interesting

In the end it was the military that brought Nixon down.
He lost them over something or other in the Indian Ocean. I forget the details

Some have opined that Watergate itself was staged and for lack of a better term a "coup"
