Dallas PD adding a "duty to intervene"

Something is so wrong guys. Its so obvious anyone that doesn't see it is an idiot.

Don't ask us for evidence. Just believe us.

Have you read this one? Has a ton of evidence/data in it. They reviewed 20 million traffic stops. One of many points of interest is that in those stops African Americans were almost twice as likely to get pulled over as white people, despite the fact that white people drive more on average. More African Americans were searched after being stopped. Just by getting in the car, based on their data, African Americans are almost twice as likely to get pulled over and nearly four times as likely to get searched. They also found that African Americans being searched were LESS likely to have any contraband over the white people being searched, which speaks to them actually looking for a reason before searching white people. There is a ton more. You should definitely read it.

Thank you. I will do so and comment on it today.

So I see its a purchase. Is there any way to see where the reference data is found?

I'm at work, but I'll try to find a review or something that compiles some of it.

Another study from the DOJ.

HIGHLIGHTS„Relatively more black drivers (13%) than white (10%) and Hispanic (10%) drivers were pulled over in a traffic stop during their most recent contact with police. There were no statistical differences in the race or Hispanic origin of persons involved in street stops.„Persons involved in street stops were less likely (71%) than drivers in traffic stops (88%) to believe that the police behaved properly.„Of those involved in traffic and street stops, a smaller percentage of blacks than whites believed the police behaved properly during the stop. „Drivers pulled over by an officer of the same race or ethnicity were more likely (83%) than drivers pulled over by an officer of a different race or ethnicity (74%) to believe that the reason for the traffic stop was legitimate.„White drivers were both ticketed and searched at lower rates than black and Hispanic drivers.„Across race and Hispanic origin, persons who were searched during traffic stops were less likely than persons who were not searched to believe the police behaved properly during the stop. „About 1% of drivers pulled over in traffic stops had physical force used against them by police. Of these drivers, 55% believed the police behaved properly during the stop.„About 6 in 10 persons age 16 or older involved in street stops believed they were stopped for a legitimate reason.„About 19% of persons involved in street stops were searched or frisked by police. The majority of persons who were searched or frisked did not believe the police had a legitimate reason for the search.

This one shows my people continue to have it even worse.

Nobody is saying racism is fake.

I'm against the idea that black men are being mowed down by cops.

That is so far from the truth.

I think systematic racism is overstated and its primarily an economic issue but racism is still real.

Okay. I am misunderstanding again. I thought you were saying that there was no data or evidence to support this sort of thing. Is that not what you are saying?

If you want to now say its worth protssting because of traffic stops then fine I guess.

Racial profiling happens. Its informed based on statistics.

Its all about how you can break those trends and its economic.

There is absolutely no evidence that black men are being mowed down by police because of their skin color.

Absolutely nothing.

This data set is from 2011-2014. The updated numbers are WAY different.

So let's say it WAS a problem until around 2014 (mmmm maybe Obama did help?). How long do you think it would take for people to stop reacting to that bias that has been around most of their life? It has only been six years. So everyone over six years old has been alive during a time of police brutality and bias. So they are still suffering from before, and they are going to react to incidents now, even if, as you are saying, those incidents have dropped down to a more normal rate. And this is all just assuming you are right about the current climate. Agreed?

Decades. Maybe longer. Just likenweight loss the most likely to be a lasting change is one that happens gradual over a longer period of time.

Its all economic. And the gains blacks have made since trump has been elected are noticeable.

Do you have a link to a more current study? Thanks.

WAPO tracked the data. 10 unarmed blacks were shot by cops last year in a country of 40+ million black people. And if you review those cases half were the assailant attacking the cops. A couple cops were charged in a few of the remaining.

So not a study per se but just a raw data dump.

This is rhe lowest since WAPO tracked it since 2015.

So. Okay. Then it is still understandable for them to to have a reaction like this and protest, right? These are people who have suffered under this kind of thing their whole life, and even if it trends downward for a few years, they can't let down their guard. How can they? Things have trended downward before and skyrocketed. And there is still a measurable bias on regular stops, and every single time these people are stopped, they are terrified. It is pure terrorism for minorities.
