Official Around Baseball 2023 Thread

A lot of former Cy Young winners and struggling heavily this year. A shame Fried got hurt as he'd likely be a front runner for Cy.

Stroman has easily been the best pitcher in baseball this year though. Would be hard pressed to match it.

Blue Jays win, chance to go up 6.5 tonight or stay firm at 5.5 games.

Yeah, even as good as Max is, not sure he'd beat out Stroman the way he's pitching this season.

This is a completely innocent comment by Dansby but it still made me laugh. I think with Freddie and Dansby gone we have fully moved on from that obnoxious era of “the Braves way”.

SWANSON LEFT A good thing in Atlanta for a team trying to find its way back to prominence. Leadership from the former No. 1 overall draft pick was expected from day one. In his mind, the best way to lead is to be there, doing it. It's why missing even a single game -- despite having a good reason, with his wife's injury -- didn't sit well with him.

"Atlanta taught me consistency, especially when Freddie [Freeman] was there," Swanson said. "Just the consistency to show up every day and do the same things, and kind of live in a gear three or four and not be in a one or a six."

If you’re interested here’s the link to the article about beta boy Dansby forcing his teammates to watch women’s MLS matches with him in the clubhouse.

Another thing Swanson and Freeman have in common. They both are on 3rd place teams.

Definitely a harmless statement, he's essentially saying Freddie was his mentor in this department. I sound like a broken record, but I honestly prefer the culture we have now. The previous was great, but this one is a little more relaxed, which I'm a fan of.

Olson does seem alot more easy going and d'Arnaud is the clubhouse leader now, and brings alot of energy and fun to the clubhouse. Even so, I'm not gonna dis the previous 'regime' cuz they were awesome too brought us to the promised land.

For sure. Freddie and Dansby were awesome Braves and there is something to admire about being professionals. I’m just saying it’s nice to not be known as the team with the stick up its own ass with our star players yelling at the Latin guys for not respecting the game (see Jose Fernandez).

Phillies radio announcers got big mad at Ozuna yesterday after his homerun.
