Didn't know this, but if they are added before Sept 1st, they are eligible for the playoff roster.

Giolito has been hot garbage for LAA but i'd still take him on a flier.

I just saw that. Man the Angels are pitiful. A few of those guys can help us.

I see Profar was let go by the Rockies. Terrible season, but has hit LHP well this season and has some positional flexibility. Curious to see if they carry another bat on the post-season roster. Don't know if he would be any better than what the Braves already have in Grissom or Williams, but thought I'd toss his name into the mix.

I thought they got rid of the waiver trade deadline a year or so ago. My guess all of these guys just hit the street if unclaimed and if claimed, go to the claiming team without compensation outside of the salary dump.

Yeah, August 1st is supposed to be a hard deadline. These guys can’t be traded, so I guess it’s basically a surrender of the rights.

Correct. Teams also can no longer pull a guy back off waivers when claimed.

With you on that. It looks like Pillar's deal with Mephistopheles has expired and Bader would be a defensive upgrade.

I would think about the possibility of Giolito for some rotation depth, cost depending. But the way he has looked, just for depth reasons. You get anything out of him, it’s basically gravy.

I just cannot get over the Angels holding onto Ohtani and then giving legit prospects for Giolito. They seriously could have kickstarted a rebuild had they been even remotely intelligent
