Not a bad deal for Chicago

Disagree. HardHit% and Barrel% aren't great, very BA-driven profile now, and I believe I read it's inexplicably the largest FA guarantee the White Sox have ever doled out. I'm glad the Braves didn't make this signing, because I could see it going the way of Rosario if his BA plummets—with Rosario at least making half the AAV over a much shorter guarantee.

His age isn't all that relevant. I mean it's a little relevant, but he just hasn't been all that good in general. I could see it being bad as soon as this season.

The AAV isnt that bad, 15 per. But it has the potential to be kinda bad, worst case he's an expensive platoon hitter.

All of the deals this offseason for the big guys have a ton of risk. All of those deals are gonna age badly.

This is gonna be the new norm. So AA will have to give out a 10 year deal at soke point to lower the luxury like these teams are doing unless MLB changes rules.

That's what I'm saying. He had a bit of a resurgence last year. But in the years prior was not very good. So the way I see it, he has the ability to go back to being not very good again at any point. Don't see why 5 years was required to get him.

5 years for a 28 year old FA is not that bad in this landscape.
