When I was in college and going to bars a lot, a whiskey sour was my go to drink. Either that or Cranberry vodka (until I developed an allergic reaction to that particular drink and somehow wound up 4 and a half miles down a local nature trail with hives all over my body. I somehow developed a deadly allergy to cranberries at age 22 lol). But a whiskey sour is so good for getting a ton of alcohol in you in a short amount of time.

I have so many weird drunk college stories where I wake up in strange places. One time I got hammered at a frat party and woke up laying on the 37th row of M.M. Roberts Stadium at 6 a.m. Apparently I was annoying all the frat guys by trying to start a spontaneous pick up football game at our college stadium (for some drunk reason) and they all told me that they would meet me there to get me to go away. I still don't know how I got into the stadium, because I'm pretty sure its locked up most of the time.

Hard to beat a properly made Manhattan either.

It’s a hard drink to donk up, tbh—but the trick is having an acceptable vermouth. Too many folks will order Manhattans with a nice rye (or bourbon) and not ensure the bar uses something better than Martini & Rossi or Tribuno (ie swill). At a 2:1 ratio, it’s a gravely bad call to wreck mid- or top-shelf whiskey with bargain-bin vermouth.

Similarly, the tonic is just as important as the gin in a good gin and tonic.
