I think he would be a pick that says we are ready to win. I am starting to fear that the FO is going to start to press to win next year.. 2017 didn't work, so they are going to double down to get it going in 2018... They might be thinking Hanseley will be ready mid season 2018 a la Bergman. I am not against Hanseley, but I don't want THAT to be the reason we draft him.

I don't think that would ever be the reason we would draft someone.

Hanseley and Bergman...two amazing new prospects to group with Newcombe haha

Keith Law's top 100 is out. Top five goes Greene, Wright, Gore, McKay, Lewis. Austin Beck is 16, and Jordan Adell is actually not in his top 100.

That's not true. Adell is there at #50 on Keith Law's big board:

50. Jordon Adell, OF
School: Ballard HS, Louisville, Kentucky

Adell shows enticing power and used to show a plus arm, but his arm strength disappeared midyear and scouts are concerned about how much swing and miss will come with the power potential.

This is him on Beck

16. Austin Beck, OF
School: North Davidson HS, Lexington, North Carolina

Beck looks like Mike Trout -- not Trout at 17, but Trout today -- with huge bat speed and a plus arm, but there’s effort to his game, and no one has seen him play with a wood bat or face good pitching.

He has Haseley very high:

6. Adam Haseley, OF
School: Virginia

Haseley has improved his stock by leaps and bounds with his performance at the plate this year, and he profiles as a true center fielder in pro ball.

I am willing to take a risk for possible huge upside. Give me Beck or Adell. Baseball America has Adell at #7, Haseley at #8, Beck at #9. I trust Baseball America above everyone else.

Just wrapped up an interview with David Rawnsley on XM - compared Gore very favorably to Allard (and mentioned the fact that Allard was likely the best arm availiable in his draft as well). Said he may also move really fast.

I think they look similar physically to some degree--Allard sort of came to mind when I first read/saw about Gore.

Worst thing they could do is to get a college guy to try to rush to the bigs. I'm still holding out for Lewis or Gore.

That is actually who I meant. I'm not even entirely sure who DeVall is haha!

DeVall is the prep pitcher who was the Braves top picked in 2008, 40th overall. He retired in 2010 rather than face Tommy John surgery. Literally took the money and ran.

Exactly! I'm not sure why folk here aren't getting this!

High floor isn't a bad thing if he also has a decent ceiling. People act like a college player with a high floor is a bad thing.

All we've seen Hasley do lately is rise in the rankings, more and more reports have him as a plus defender with a plus hit tool.

Even if the power doesn't come along you're looking at a guy who's projected to hit .300, get on base, play really good defense and is much more likely to his those projections than the HS guys who seem to be falling down boards.

I'll say this, plenty of people - and I might have been one of them - were wary of Senzel in last years draft because they viewed him in a similar vein to Hasley 'a high floor college hitter without big power' and all Senzel did was rise up the draft boards, he went #2 and is now one of the best prospects in baseball.

The point here isn't to say Hasley=Senzel, but I do see some similarities is their late rise on boards and their hit/power reports coming out of college, pipelines grades on Senzel are basically identical to Haseleys
