Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

every player?? I am specifically talking about 36 year old Sale and oft injured Lopez. Do I see a case where Sale and Lopez repeat.. yes I do. Sale is just special. He has been his whole career (just hurt a lot) So I think he ages fine.. Lopez is just now 30 and breaking 100 innings (by a good bit) was a huge threshold to get past.

If those 2 and Schwelly can stay close to what they were last year, then I think the Braves can be the best team in the East. But those are some big if's to repeat.. so I personally consider the East a toss up between the still strong Faillies and the now improved Mutts.

You mentioned Sale, Lopez, Schwelly specifically. So yes. Every player.

And again, you are also expecting all the players who has career worst seasons to repeat those seasons (or worse).

That's a 60 and 50 fV for those two. I know Crochet is the big name right now but he only has 2 years left and just the 1 season as a starter under his belt. Not sure how much they will realistically get back.

Yeah, Cease was effectively just as valuable of a pitcher last off-season in a weaker pitcher market and he didn't command nearly as high of a return. While Cease was not coming off as good as a year as Crochet is now, Cease did have a much stronger track record. than Crochett does. The package the Chi-Sox received for Cease was nowhere near the package the Pads just turned down.

I am guessing the Chi-Sox were trying to see if the Pads were getting desperate with the Dodgers signing Snell.

Worse rotation for sure. Not a worse lineup, imo. Unless the Phillies sign Bregman or Alonso or trade for Rooker, they will have a significantly worse season offensively, imo.

And Mets core is much younger than the Phillthies. Aside from Lindior and Senga, their core is younger than 30. Vientos, Soto, Alvarez, Acuna Jr.

Acuña might end up being something, but Alvarez isn’t very good.

Rizzo in deep talks with the Pirates. Boob says the Phillies are current favorites for Crochet.

Man I hope not to the Phillies. Sale repeating last year and staying that healthy again is slim, Strider who knows and Fried and Morton are gone. The Braves need Crochet bad imo. He will replace Sale at some point and we need another lefty. I don’t wanna trade Baldwin but that’s the guy I would do it for.

The Braves finished above them only because they didn't play the 2nd game of the double header. And the Mets just signed a top 3 hitter in baseball.

That said, I don't anticipate much from either Strider or Acuna this year. Both are coming back from serious injuries and we already have an idea of what Acuna will look like based on '22.. except this time, he has 2 robo knees. And to expect a repeat of Lopez and Sale's 24 season is not smart. So, until we can see how Olson, ozzie and MethHead will rebound.. how Baldwin will handle MLB.. who will be the 3rd outfielder.. who will be in the pen, who will cover innings in the rotation... then yeah.. I don't see the Braves as being better than the other 2 right now.

We were missing a very key player like all year. Unless we we're missing all of our good players for an extended period, Braves are at worst 2nd right now. And AA hasnt even made any moves to improve the team, yet. Which he always does. Braves are like top 3 in alot of WS odds right now, and they havent even made moves to improve the roster, they'll be fine. AA will do what he normally does.

Mets even with Soto are 3rd. They'll still add but they're not better than Philly or Atlanta right now.

Astros GM said he would listen on Kyle Tucker. Now there is a game changer for the OF.

Only way i'd trade for Tucker is if you can extend him. Otherwise, no. Framber Valdez would make sense if the prospect cost isnt too crazy.

AA is pretty good at getting an extension when he trades for somebody so I would expect the same out of Tucker. He’s only 27 and is pretty good on both sides of the ball. He’s one I would trade Baldwin for also.

Kyle Tucker is a 5 WAR annual player who is only 27 with two years left of control. Drake Baldwin isn’t going to get it done. Braves don’t have the pieces.

He has 1 year left of control, not two. But i think Baldwin plus would get it done.
