This has been an outstanding rookie class. Jones and Keanu are arguably our second and third best players on defense (behind Trufant). Couple that with nice seasons from Vic, Freeney, Jarrett and Clayborne and you have the foundation of an average defense.

The big issue with the defense is the linebacker corp, with the exception of Jones. It's abysmal and we don't have a deep enough secondary to account for it. I think there's some upside with Campbell, but for the most part we really don't have any internal options to fix those issues.

Jarrett has been flat out impressive. He just isn't finishing plays yet. He beats his man and alters the play but just doesn't get the big finish yet.

This is the guy that we gotta hurt. This is the guy we gotta take out the game. There's gotta be 10 guys that want to hurt him every single play. In fact, we may even put a little bounty on Ezekiel Elliott. Let's get to Alfred Morris.

I’m sick of hearing everybody talk about how good the offensive line is, and how good this guy is. This is the guy that makes them go. This is the guy we’ve gotta take out.

For my money, Trufant is the most underrated player in the NFL right now. And I'm fine with that. Less hype could save us some money keeping him around. If we had any kind of pass rush Trufant would have probably the best stats of any corner in the NFL. Seriously, he was the least targeted corner in the NFL last year. He isn't flashy or overly athletic, he's jsut really smart and agile and receivers can't shake him. And he does it with minimal help from the pass rush. If QBs only had 3 seconds to pass on Atlanta either he'd never be targeted or he'd make way more plays.

"Falcons and GM Thomas Dimitroff closing in long-term extension that is expected to be done shortly, per source."

Rumor has it it's a three year extension. This is surprising given he's been on the hot seat the past two years. However, his drafts the past two years have been excellent and the free agent signings of Mack, Sanu, Gabriel, Clayborne, etc. have been really good. I think he and Quinn are a really good team.

Dark horse candidate for MVP. Matt Stafford. He's played sensationally. Although he won't get consideration he deserves it.

I would definately say he is among the small group. Ryan is right there until he stumbles too.

I'm more and more impressed by Dak and Zeke as the weeks go by. Not many drafts can make you look like a genius like theirs has.

Also Maliek Collins.
Also Anthony Brown.
And we haven't even seen Jaylon Smith yet.
Already a great draft; could be epic.

Worst game the Falcons have played since week 1. So many unforced errors.

It was. I didn't think we would beat Philly in Philly anyway. Their D is good enough to plug the run pretty well without getting exposed in the passing game a whole lot. Plus, Malcom Jenkins haunts us. Guy is really good.

Sidenote- Is the turf at the Linc notoriously bad or something? I ask because all the kicking was horrific yesterday and seemed they were looking down at the turf after a few times?

The Eagles team; particularly their defense is really under rated. They are a solid team. The offense needs some work, but they are a tough team. Pretty tough matchup vs. the Falcons if their defense shuts down the offense.
