Starting over...who are the untouchables?

Re: Gattis/CB.

Reason i'd trade Gattis over CB.

He'd bring back more in a trade.

I worry about his health.

His defense sucks.

CB might bring more in a trade but who catches when Gattis goes down and CB is gone?

Not saying CB is Yadi-Molina but not like he cant improve over time.

You trade Gattis the year after next once Bethancourt has a full year as a backup under his belt.

i'd trade the **** out of heyward to the GM that overvalues WAR the most.

This has to at least get discussed during evaluation meetings, after the season ends. If there's no sense that he and his agent aren't open to talking LT, then it needs more serious attention. What Sheff said might rattle some of the fanboys here, but there's probably more than a little truth in it. The dude unquestionably has the talent but maybe not the desire. If it's been phrased differently, that might not have ruffled a few feathers. One way or another the question needs to be asked, "can the Braves with with him?" Then it becomes a question of what other teams are willing to offer in return.

Honestly, you'regonna question Heyward's motivation? You can question many things about Jason, but I'm fairly sure there's less than a handful of players on the team who work harder than him. Think about the last time Jason dogged it down the line, or gave up on a ball,or done any number of things.

What would you rather have in 2015, Heywood and JUpton or whatever they bring in a trade plus 40 million in payroll? Having these two is great but I think we can field a better team with out them. We need 8 above average hitters, not 2 great, 2 above average, and 5 black holes.

That's complete horse****. Really. Have you watched a game this season?

40 million in payroll? Are you planning on a team taking on BOssman's contract and what's left of Uggla's?

You're assuming the players we get in the trades and the money will be better than just having Heyward and Justin. I'd argue you'd be lucky to break even with those prospects and free money. We already have to great players and I'd prefer not to gamble them away.

That's the kicker. Also when we traded Tex to avoid getting "a pick" that pick wound up being Mike Trout. Sure it's an extreme case that likely won't ever happen again but it happens.

We should be in the playoffs next year, only thing holding us back are injuries and our manager. If we ****can that joker (which I'm starting to fear we won't) we should be back in the playoffs if we keep Justin adn Jason, I'll guarantee we won't be if we trade one of them.

We'd probably have to spend minimum 20-25 to replace JUp/Heyward.

Unless we got some great players in returns at the same spot.

It would be stupid to trade both, maybe/probably one.

I'm not sure we make the playoffs next year even with some changes and if Fredi is fired.

Paying players market value or close to it is not a good strategy to win with a mid level payroll. I think Justin is overrated and I want no part of a big long term contract. He just doesn't seem like he will do well when his physical skills start to decline. He relies too much on natural talent. If I was going to keep one it would be Heywood but I think his defensive value is overrated. He needs to be playing center to get max value for him. It's far easier to find corner outfielders than a centerfielder that can hit.

I think there are a lot of interesting bats in free agency. Guys like Headley, Markakis, and Aoki to name a few.

Just wondering, what kind of trade package would you trade one/both of JUp, Heyward for?

I'm not classifying Simmons as untouchable until he learns to hit. Sorry. If we're going to keep black holes in CF and at 3B, our SS needs to be able to hit the baseball.

Teheran, Wood, Freeman would be my untouchables at this point who are at the MLB level. Kimbrel, Heyward, Justin, Gattis, Minor are in the next class. Only trade them if you're getting a very good return that will help the club. Of course, losing any of those would hurt us, so it'd have to be a killer return.

Been discussed before.

With the new stadium, we have more money than people realize.

Not saying we'll have a LAD/NYY level payroll but they have enough money for Heyward and JUp, whether both would re-sign is a different story.

And did Minor die or something, he's the #3 starter heading into next year unless i missed something.

My guess is that you missed the fact that they scratched him from his final start following his exit in the 2nd inning of his start last week because his shoulder's barking - the same shoulder that caused him to miss the first month of this season.

Elbows are one thing - an offseason of rest often helps heal them - shoulders are an entirely different story.

(BTW - I'm entirely aware of the new revenues the organization HOPES to generate with the new stadium. Unfortunately the City has a much more reliable track record of being unsupportive than accountants/economists being paid by the team to put together attendance projections to convince Cobb County to build the stadium. Revenues will go up when attendance goes up - there will be a significant bump for the first season or season and a half, but when attendance slips back to 20-25 K per night range, that money's gone.)

I have the fear we may be the fourth best rotation in the NL east next year even if everyone is healthy with Harvey and Hernendez back... We need the players that drive defense with high obp and less k's to compete (a Span type). Dump BJ in a lost player swap (call up the cubs again), package CJ, Gattis and another minors player (maybe our draft pick this year) for a + defender with good contact numbers and a power arm. Then sign the bridge your guy to play third like headley or Chavez. Our Defense is key to having guys like Harang actually look decent

Just wondering, what kind of trade package would you trade one/both of JUp, Heyward for?

Justin/BJ for Prado/Adam Warren. Yankees pay Prado ' s salary Braves pay 5 mill a year of BJ'S salary.

Heywood to the Cubs for Arismendy Alcantara/Neil Ramirez/Dan Vogelbach. The Cubs I think are going to make some big moves now that their top prospects are hitting the majors. I think they sign one of Lester or Scherzer. They have the money to re-sign Heywood. Arismendy can play CF, 2b and SS. Ramirez gives us a high quality and cheap setup man to strengthen the pen. Vogelbach has no future with the Cubs, probably doesn't in Atlanta either but we can use him as a future trade chip.

I would to get Mookie Betts and Henry Owens from the Red Sox.

If we could get the Dodgers in the bidding I would like to get Joc Pedersen and Alex Gurrero.

Justin blocked a trade to the Mariners that had Taijun Walker. Would live to have him in a trade for Heywood. Wish they still had Nick Franklin so we could get him too.

I like Nick Castellanos of the Tigers but they don't have much else to trade. Maybe Justin and BJ for Castellanos and Nathan.

I can't really see any other teams with the ammo and ability to re-sign either of them. I would also look to sign Yasmany Tomas to replace one of them.

To the OP:

Peraza
Freeman
Teheran
Kimbrel
Wood
and I'm about to add Bethancourt

the rest of MLB can have at the rest of them
