The Coronavirus, not the beer

It would have been nice to see enough people stand against the pork that leadership had to submit a clean stimulus bill. Too few are willing to take the consequences of that from the party leaders.
 
It is utterly ridiculous that a stimulus bill legally can have **** like "make illegal streaming a felony" in it. Our government is pure ****. I wish we could fire them all and start over.
 
i'm kinda shocked that y'all are so upset about no longer being able to consume for free the fruits of other people's labor and creativity

I really don't care. I quit stealing music during limewire, braves are local (switched to directv just to have them), and I have nfl direct ticket. I just really don't think this should be addressed in covid relief package.

It isn't about it being legal. The felony aspect and putting it into the stimulus bill is the problem. I stream sports when they are blacked out in my area. That's it. I don't feel bad about that. The blackout rules are ridiculous.

stealing thousands of dollars worth of value should be a felony...the law will mainly work to shut down the companies that enable this theft...and that's what it is...not that I love Disney or the NFL...but property rights are a thing

I don't disagree with you, and I think it should be a felony to offer illegal streaming. I do not think it should be a felony to stream it. I know people who use illegal streaming websites, and they had no clue they were illegal (like 123movies or something like that, for example).

Thanks for the info. It is still ridiculous to have it in the stimulus bill, but I'm glad my 10-year-old niece isn't going to be a felon...not from this, anyway.

i guess the analogy is to make selling drugs illegal while decriminalizing buying...i can go along with that

Well this wasn't just a covid relief package. It got packaged with other stuff.

First I heard of this and that's a relief. My fear was the same as Dalyn's, there are plenty of people who don't know there's a difference between an illegal site and Crackle. And of course the felony aspect.
