Thread for Games ...

Mostly because I consider the WBC pointless and only potentially harmful to teams that have invested millions of dollars in players. Would rather amateurs be in it. It's not going to enhance the popularity of the sport. It's not going to be the next World Cup.

Why is no one talking about the WBC? I'm surprised there's no thread for the BC games. USA vs DR was one the most thriling games you'll see all year.

I've been watching. I was gonna make a thread on it last week. It's just a weird time of the year. Plus I'd rather the WBC be played after October anyways.

Watching the cardinals feed of the game...jace with an error that lead to a run same with Ruiz....jace then dives for a ball, misses letting the ball go by. Looks awful in CF

It is embarrassing how bad he is playing. Also, wasn't Washington supposed to help the infield defense. Seems the opposite has been going on..

Jace is not the answer..for anything.

Not picking on you specifically, but I have noticed that we, as a group are really quick to turn on a guy. Jace is not a star, but he is a good player with the potential to still improve, especially if used to take advantage of his strengths. An error in a ST game does not change that.

He's not a good player.

He's soon to be 27, and has produced a grand total of 0.4 fWAR in his 3 ML seasons.

Only absolute homers ever claimed he was a good player, or had the potential to be a good player. Anyone with any real player evaluation skills knew exactly what Jace was from day 1...a decent filler while he is cheap. The day he hits arb and starts to make any real money he will immediately become a non-tender candidate.

First year he had a shot to be a low end regular due to ok minor league stats, but other than that I basically agree. He had/has like 1 WAR potential at best.

Thought that too, but soon realized that the novelty quickly wore off after the first time. The lack of involvement from many of the top US players shows how well it's regarded. Then with the Olympics dropping baseball harmed its standing for international competition.

With the usual caveat that spring is meaningless... the Braves are not having a very good one

Personally, I'll be absolutely fine with another lost season; I've never thought the Braves could, or should try to, compete at this current spot in their development arc. Maybe they'll surprise me, but I'll be totally happy with 2017 if (a) the older veterans show well enough to net some solid prospects at the deadline, while (b) at least half of the up-and-comers show real progress towards major-league contributions. Better than that—especially in the latter category—is gravy.

and we finish with the worst record to enjoy a nice beer next summer!!

Yep. His only plus is his versatility. As we get better, he should be moved along in a trade. We have seen all we are going to see from ole Jace, and that's not a whole lot.
