Would anybody do a Teheran for Yordano Ventura + prospect(s) (Dozier/Starling/Vallot/Zimmer) deal with KCR? ... could almost throw Peraza + veterans in there to get more.
Yuck

I'm on board with dealing Teheran, but Rosenthal's idea of dealing him for pitching prospects and a young catcher seems interesting. We keep seeing people talk about our front office wanting a young catcher, but who would even be a target out there? I'd love to find a way to get Swihart but that seems unlikely. Susac has been talked about a lot on here, but is he really enough to get back in a package for Teheran? I'm just not sure who else is out there.
Even given Julio's struggles this year, I'd personally prefer to keep him over Wood. Of course, I agree whole heartedly with those who say "everyone should be available for the right package". The only player I think is the one that causes you to say "everyone but..." is Freeman because we simply can't replace his offense for similar money. I think Teheran's extension is one helluva deal given what he's shown and what his upside is. I think it's going to be next to impossible to get Miller or Wood to sign a similar extension, and the team that gets him will get such a great contract that it will need to pay an "Ace-like" premium.
If I were trading Julio, I don't think I could possibly take less than...
Dodgers - Holmes or DeLeon, Darnell Sweeney, and Barnes
Royals - Sean Manaea and Miguel Almonte
Cubs - Gleyber Torres and Billy McKinney
Giants - Susac, Adalberto Mejia, and Mac Williamson
Blue Jays - Jeff Hoffman and Pentecost (I see no way Wood gets them both, but Julio's contract might get AA to bite)
Astros - Michael Feliz, Phillips, and J. D. Davis (sme thing here applies with Wood)
Julio is MUCH more valuable than either Miller or Wood because of his extension (IMO) - if teams aren't willing to pay a premium to get that contract, you just keep him and listen on the other two (who will make substantially more if they choose to go through the arbitration process year-to-year.

I would. I doubt KC would do it though, even Ventura for Teheran straight up.
I saw this in one of Bowman's articles. "The Braves have received some calls about right fielder Nick Markakis, but they have made it clear he is not available." Doesn't make much sense. Nick's a good player but he's far from being an elite, untouchable player.

Something brewing with #Athletics and Scott Kazmir. He just came out of Bob Melvin's office. Asst GM David Forst also in clubhouse.

And so it begins.
Astros would be my guess.
You win.
