TUESDAY MINORS FINAL 7/23 ... Bullpen Blows Save for Soroka

Soroka's just been outstanding. Just unreal how consistently deep he pitches into games and how effective and efficient. Guys been truly phenomenal this year

Can this board's moderators please get the bickering and constant ridicule on both sides under control? Really takes away from the quality of the boards.

Agree with enscheff on the Acuna/Andruw comparison. Acuna has done extrenely well, but everyone needs to go back and check Andruw's last season in the minors when the rocketed up through the system. Better hitting numbers across the board and then there was the all-world fielding part of the equation as well.

I've already posted the stats in this very thread.

EDIT: It was actually in the previous thread.

Acuna is going to hit more HRs this year than Sosa hit in his entire minor league career. Not really, but his power is much better. Sosa also only posted a .717 OPS in the minors.

He was then pretty bad at the MLB level his first 2 years.

They aren't really comparable at all.

I was mainly going for what we might expect from Acuna at the major league level. I agree with your points, but Sosa was clearly a different player at the major league level at age 24+ than as a minor leaguer... Obviously you don't think Acuna is going to hit more homeruns than Sosa in his career.

Haha, no, probably not.

I think Wentz is a very good prospect, but one thing that might be holding him back is the Braves are really being careful with his innings. He's averaging less than 5 innings per start and while his numbers are solid, he's not blowing people up. Curious to see if he makes the SAL Top 20 at the end of the year (he should) and what the scouting press says about him.

He's definitely being handled carefully. He really impressed me in much the same way as Povse did in that he is seemingly built to pitch, confident and always listening. He's really good but may not get his due until next year.

Wentz's last 5 starts have been pretty dominant. He has 28 IP (5.6 average), 2 ER, 0.64 ERA, 36 Ks, 9 BBs, 15 H.

That's about as dominant as you can be. Add in the fact that he's a 6-5 lefty and you have the makings of an elite pitching prospect.

I've said it plenty of times before but it bears repeating: Wentz > Anderson

Wentz, Anderson, Soroka, Gohara, and Wilson are the hottest names in Braves pitching at the moment.

I guess Sims too. Hopefully he gets his shot in Atlanta very soon.

Flash trivia question. Does Soroka have more starts with 0 walks than he does starts with 1 or more walks in AA this year? Obviously don't look it up first.
