Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

They'll be buyers, but I don't know if they will heavily pursue a flyball pitcher.

I always laugh when people downgrade Dustin Peterson. Granted, he's not Moncada or Benintendi, but I think he can play a little bit.

I highly doubt the Red Sox would trade both Benintendi and Moncada in one deal or separate deals. If we could get one in a deal for Teheran with some other parts thrown in on both sides, it would probably balance. I wouldn't be against Henry Owens coming back to us. He's having a terrible year, but he's only 23 and was a highly-ranked prospect not too long ago. I don't know if Swihart can be a big-league C, so I don't see his value to us being that high.

I would be good with Moncada and some pitching plus.. Espy/Light and another lower level hitter.. That would be a pretty good return for Viz and JT IMO..

I would indeed. Just like I would have traded our best prospect for Tim Hudson like 12 years ago.

I agree, if your team is in the playoff hunt and you are a starter away from making a world series run, as the Red Sox are with their bats, you make that move. Especially if that starter has cheap control years to come. I wouldn't trade my #1 prospect for a rental, but JT is controlled until after 2020! That's good value even if he is just a 2 WAR arm the rest of the way.

If the situations were reversed, I doubt many of you would trade a top 5 prospect for Teheran.

I would. If I had a good team with a good farm system but had crappy starting pitching like the Redsox. A lot of top prospects turn out crap. Bruce Chen, Brad Kominsk, Mike Kelly, Andy Marte, Jeff Francouer ect...

Considering how cheap his contract is, i would in a nanno second.

Some prospects bust, some turn out great, thats the risk involved.

Yeah it's not like he's a wild card. He's a pretty known quantity at this point. Durable, CHEAP, controlled, and damn good is a hard guy to find. I'd be fine with it if it's what we needed to win a WS. I'd actually be mad we didn't and ended up getting the boot by throwing out a guy with no business pitching in the playoffs.

My gut feeling is that we probably give Julion and another piece (starter like Williams Perez or Gant) plus a BP piece for them to pony up the big fish we want (Moncada). I really don't love Benintendi as the centerpiece . I don't think they have enough to tempt us to move Julion without Moncada.

Copy says no more prospects he's looking for mlb talent

I think if we trade we will want prospects at least in aa. We should love monads and devers but I think we will need someone like bentindi that can play today

I'm thinking the way they make it work is a blockbuster where they add extra parts or take on a bad deal. If they take ho and we take panda that could work

With how awful the pitching is, I think it's a pretty legit situation that the Sox trade for Teheran and give up a lot. It's no longer a, "he will help" situation, they NEED good pitching.

I'm not sure Coppy deals him short of Moncada coming back.

Benedinti is a good prospect but i'm not sure Coppy deals Julio for that.

Besides, worst case, keep him and teams can have a bidding war this winter for him.

Moncada and Benintendi are at the same level and Moncada is producing basically just as much in a little smaller sample size.

Moncada is in AA. He can slide to 3b and fix that hole for the next 10 years possibly. He has to be in any deal.

If monada is 75 percent of what this board says they should not deal him. Esp if u think he's close

In that case why not deal shaw to the braves and put monada in at 3b?
