With camp about to begin, Falcons are giving WR Roddy White a 4-year extension that ties him to ATL for next five seasons, per sources.

You realize I don't usually use DYAR when judging WRs right? I consider it with a number of things, but primarily base it off watching people play. Crabtree is a fine possession receiver, but that's about it. His route running is weak for a 1, his speed is pedestrian, and he doesn't even seem to own his skillset as he seems to try to still play like he did in college when he was faster than most people he faced.

I do think speed is what prevents Crabtree from being in the elite group. He's a good possession WR, but to be one of the top WRs in the game, you have to make game changing plays, not be a reliable 3rd down target.

Not that zito cares, but Crabtree 33 targets and 284 yards, and 19 catches in the regular season. Julio had 60 targets, 580 yards, and 41 catches.

They both played in 5 games. yet one has almost double the targets of the other. Yeah I guess it doesn't matter what type of offenses they play in huh?

Well that, and the fact that more talented players get more targets. That's the reason why Vincent Jackson averaged way more targets despite playing in a much worse offense that threw the ball the same amount of times as San Fran.

2 game suspension for Ray Rice? Good thing he didn't do something truly terrible, like smoke a joint, or he'd really be in trouble.

Goodell is just setting it up so he can be lenient on irsay. Truly disgusting. Rice should be out for 8 games at the very least.

If we're including who's throwing the ball then you take the Pats, Falcons, and many other teams. Kaepernick is a bum.
You don't take the Pats, because even with Brady, their receivers are still piss poor these last couple of years (Brady wasn't sensational last year, either). I don't take the Falcons either without Gonzo, a washed up and injured White, an over-rated Douglas, and Jones.

I would say that that reflects the fact that the Niners also had Boldin and Davis catching passes and taking the targets away from Crabtree, whereas the Bucs had absolutely nothing other than Jackson at WR.

It's pointless man. For some reason everyone here hates the 49ers, Kaep, and Crabtree for whatever reason.

You can't talk sense into them.

Let's also ignore the injury he was coming back from.

I think you guys are getting upset that people here aren't declaring him a great WR. The book is still out on him. No matter the reason, no one knows either way you. You guys want everyone to just believe he's already great when he hasn't shown it the way other great WRs have.

To me this is where you guys are wrong. He was showing it towards the end of the 2012 year and would have continued it last year if not for his inhury. Reports in camp are that he is flashing the same explosiveness as bef9re. I expect him to have a great year.

That is WONDERFUL. But he hasn't proven OVER THE SAME STRETCH that the current great WRs have. Plain and simple. Blame it on injury or what have you. He is not in that conversation because a lot of guys have done it for 3, 4, 5 years. It's not complicated. He has not done it yet. Can he? Sure. Has he? No. He has NOT shown it the way other current greats have, ie. over a couple of seasons. Showing it towards the end of 1 season is not the same as showing it over a period of a couple seasons.

Thats why I've never even once hinted at him being a top 5 WR. But people on this board talk about him like he is juts another WR. That is what I am disagreeing with.

And he may not even be top 5. You talk about him like he's great and no one knows that yet.
