On the whole, he was not good last year. 25 touchdowns to 18 picks.
Should he get credit for leading the comeback vs. FLorida 12-24 125 yards 2 td, 4 int? They had more talent than any team they played in the regular season last year by a long shot, but surprisingly had poor QB play.
Not to make excuses because I don't think Winston himself was at all satisfied with the statistics of 2014 . But, let's put the season into context
Talent? - he had one upper classman for WR and 4 Freshmen. An inconsistent running game (solidified by again, a Freshman) and for over half the season a freshman center.
Of those 18 picks I would say that over half were receiver generated, I'd guess 95% others were balls that were forced because, well the kid has a cannon and thinks he can throw into a egg at 45 yards. To my mind that is why kids go to college to learn limitations.
I remember one he tried to throw away to the middle of the field. A college QB mistake. That was maybe the 2nd - 3rd game - never made that particular mistake again.
