In case anyone is wondering what Craig Kimbrel is looking for.......

I will insert the classic Enscheff buzzkill meme:

"Hopefully this finally puts an end to any of the dumb fantasies or ideas discussed here of Kimbrel taking a hometown discount to come back"

Ya, but...

Folty
Gausman
Newk
?
?

bleh... that ain't winning much.

Whoever isn't traded (Touki, Fried, Wright, Anderson, Gohara, plus possibilities such as Gray, Sanchez, etc...)

Forgot about Soroka, likely the best of the bunch. Of all the upgrade potential areas, I think SP should be the least of our worries.

Most teams would be thrilled with 4th and 5th starters made up of the crew listed above, but ultimate troll is ultimate

Not sure where I stand, but AA definitely has a history of ponying up for the guy he wants. If he's this high on JT, he'll pay it.

That being said, there are several really good options we can fallback on.

Frankly this is what concerns me the most about AA and as much as people like him here, he is the guy who traded Noah Syndergaard for 38 year old RA Dickey. Nobody is perfect, but I do wish that AA sometimes wouldn't get so fixated on one guy.

Except for that hole in LF where doubles routinely fall.

Exactly! If JT is acquired (not holding.my breath) and I personally don't want to see us give up what it will cost. I would do everything to lure Brantley over at 2yrs $32m with a mutual option for $15m. If he won't take that, then go get Cargo on a 1yr $8-10m.

1. Acuna
2. Donaldson
3. Freeman
4. JT
5. Brantley/Cargo
6. Ozzie
7. Ender
8. Swanson

No, and Minter was a rookie. He should be better. We also have O’Day. Again, I’m putting Teheran in the pen. He may could even close. Who knows?

Kimbrel had a 1.5 WAR last year (3.13 FIP 3.12 xFIP)
Minter had a 1.4 WAR last year (2.72 FIP 3.62 xFIP)

Its laughable that there are actually Braves fans that would give up $100 million for Kimbrel.

I want Minter as the closer... he could easily end up turning into a Diaz after such a successful rookie campaign with his stuff. Get a couple more solid pen arms that can be high leverage, but goodness gracious we don't need a freaking closer.

Teheran's stuff doesn't really translate well to the pen, IMO

Agree. Unless it’s a long man.

We have guys like touki, gohara, Wright, new etc who could be nasty relievers if we wanted to.

Braves should not spend more than 5 million for a relief pitcher until 2025

I get it. My thinking is that he doesn’t really show his stuff when starting. In one inning, he can air it out like he did innthat one inning in the playoffs. That was the only reason I considered it. And I know one inning doesn’t mean anything but why not try it in ST if we haven’t dealt him? Nothing to lose.
