Buying low on Montgomery is not the worst idea though I think having the DBacks pay most of his salary is preferable.

Braves fire Seitzer and assistant hitting coach. Also Fasano.

I didn't listen when I was 24 and I wasn't a world class athlete with immediate success at professional level.

I'm not sure "swing hard at pitches in the zone" is a secret sauce that the Braves coaches haven't figured out. Most of the Braves home developed players have exceeded their prospect evaluations and what more realistic minded posters projected for them. When you draft for pitching as...

Ahem, Jordan Montgomery is not from Georgia.

I mean Charlie Morton makes 20m a year and you could reasonably project Fried to have a couple more All Star-ish seasons before settling into a Morton like role. Being left handed sort of gives an illusion of longevity that isn't perhaps reality, but feel like if he would actually sign for...

Sorry it's required we resign Heyward and Freeman first. It's only fair.

Nothing about what the Braves or Anthopolous have done would suggest anything else. They will either sign a veteran to short term deal or trade for a cheaper guy. Possibly both.

Feels like someone could get him for 8-10m for his final season. Maybe less.

If you have to keep Solar do you shop for a cheap all defense glove as late inning replacement or make do with what you got?

Although to be fair, you made a different statement than what the person you responded to said. He said the Braves drafting is a lot better than it's been given credit for. You made a comment about the system. But I suspect the best way to evaluate a system remains the output of actual...

I just wonder whether there is payroll room to accommodate him. They're better team with him than without him and the lineup remains pretty static. Maybe a SS and some bench work but it is what it is mostly.

I have always though Braves wouldn't resign Fried, because Braves, but is there any indication out there that suggests they might? Haven't been following it closely.

I doubt that they'll bring in an ace type unless it's a distressed asset like Sale.

The less famous Greg Olson paired with someone and I'm not sure that was a great hitting pair. I was there the night he was hurt. So was Rafael Ramirez.
