Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

He has always outperformed his FIP, but never to this degree. I think it's fair to expect him to beat it by half a run, but not more than that, which would put him around a 3.5 ERA this year. You point out that he's working with a bad defense, but his opposing BABIP this year is 40 points...

Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

To be fair, you're talking about several different people's opinions. The guy who did the top 10 prospects isn't there anymore, and the guy who made that comment today is a prospect guy as well, so trade value questions aren't really his thing. I've seen several of their other writers say a...

Right, so you win the short series and then have to win 2 long series, possibly with your #1 and #2 having already pitched on short rest. Also, the organization that won 1 WS in 14 tries did so with the best 1-3 in the game for most of those years. I'm not sure why you'd bring that up to...

Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

Adam Dunn batted .304 in the minors (including .334 in his only stops at AA/AAA) while striking out in less than 20% of his plate appearances. Players who are destined to be good hitters in the majors generally don't strike out in 34% of their plate appearances or bat .256 against minor league...

Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

I love Fangraphs and am not nearly as high on Teheran as a lot of the folks on this board, but lately it's felt like several of the writers over there really hate Teheran. It may just be that they're tired of a Teheran/Red Sox trade question comes up every time they do a chat, but I feel like...

Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

Yeah there's no way he only gets $15M/yr if Cespedes is getting $22+. If he keeps up his current pace for the whole season, I would expect him to get as much as Alex Gordon got this past year, if not more.

TOP 30 PROSPECTS: New Year's Eve Edition

I think he's just overrating prospects drafted and developed by the Braves. In addition to what's already been said, Allard and Soroka have no business being ahead of Swanson.

    TWO Modest proposals

I looked at their contracts because this seemed to make some sense for me, but I'm worried about McCann's 2019 option that vests automatically as follows: "2019 becomes player option if McCann: 1) has at least 1,000 plate appearances combined in 2017-18, 2) starts at least 90 games at catcher...

    Hypothetically speaking...

I would be pretty happy if the Braves got Desmond for 4/75.

    Hypothetically speaking...

Ian Desmond has been one of the best players in baseball this year, and very good for 4 of the last 5 seasons. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to pay him, assuming he's not asking for more than the post you quoted.

    TWO Modest proposals

While it would be nice to see McCann in a Braves uniform again and we do need a catcher, he looks like he's pretty clearly on the decline. I think he and the Braves would be better served if he went to another AL team that could let him move to DH full time in another year or two. While I...

International News, Rumor and Signing Thread

 And his IP/GS has fallen each of the past 3 years, so he may or may not pitch enough innings to qualify going forward. I don't disagree that we could've gotten more for him at the time he was traded or that the trade has turned out very poorly, but I really don't see how you can put him...

International News, Rumor and Signing Thread

If you stipulate qualified starters only you're limiting your sample size so much that 30 pitchers is actually pretty substantial. A 3.5 ERA would've put him at #33 out of 77 qualified pitchers last year, which isn't bad but is firmly middle of the road. Add to that the injury risk and...

2016 DRAFT Signing Tracker ... FINAL, JULY 15

Oh, for picks after 10 is it just the overslot amount that counts toward our total?

2016 DRAFT Signing Tracker ... FINAL, JULY 15

If I'm not mistaken it would actually be less than that, unless Neslony and Mooney decide to do us a solid and sign for free.

2016 DRAFT Signing Tracker ... FINAL, JULY 15

Yeah by my count the Cumberland signing puts them at $10,510,000.00 with the other bonuses listed on page 1, so that leaves them with $3,375,305.00 before they hit the 5% over mark.

Viz and Teheran listed as top trade candidates

I feel like I'm missing something here - why would anyone trade a significant player for Profar? His current hot streak is fueled by a BABIP near .400 and he's not hitting for power or walking, and in his prior MLB work he was awful for about three times the number of games.

I would hope we would get something similar to what the Phillies got for Ken Giles.

DRAFT IN PROGRESS THREAD ... What's past is preamble

I'm going to need a source that we were hoping he would drop to 40. Furthermore, who would you have drafted at 3/40? I don't see a combination I'd rather have than Anderson/Wentz.
