2025-2026 offseason thread

Murphy is excellent with young pitchers and is probably gonna see a lot of time at DH this year. Alex loves having 2 good catchers so I don't think he would be traded even if he were completely healthy. The Rangers top prospect Walcott is a SS and is ready so the Rangers have a replacement.

You can find enough ABs for both Murphy and Baldwin.

I think I’d rather pay Kim $20m a year for the next three years than give up some valuable near-major league ready players to pay Seager $30+ over the next six.

My ump buddy said the Rangers started talks with Braves wanting Schwellenbach or Baldwin. Braves obviously balked and countered with two top-5 prospects and a couple of lower ones. They also said they'd take on full salary. He said no one has offered to take the full salary to date.

I know things change quickly and I completely understand if you guys don't believe me, but Alex was apparently given the full go-ahead to spend.
Nice try, Cy.

I didn’t watch the Shanks video. Even in an alternate universe where Ronald didn’t get along with his teammates and needed a change of scenery, what would trading him even look like? Even if it was something crazy as hell like a swap for Lindor, we would need more from the Mets.

Why is it hard to trade Acuna. Last 5 years he had 1 great year. Other 4 years he gave us a WAR of 3.5, 0.9, 2.2, and 4.4. Now compare the WAR we are getting to the trade package we could get. I bet the players we get back significantly outproduce Acuna by year 2 if not the first year.

I wouldn't let Acuna reach FA in Atlanta. Either extend him or trade him with 2 years left to maximize the return. And that's my favorite player.

The time to trade Acuna would be at the 2027 or 2028 trade deadline if the team falls out of contention and decides to initiate the rebuild. That would allow the Braves an attempt to compete that season, and then maximize the return from a contending team.

There’s almost 0 chance the Braves blow it up this year at the deadline. There’s too much of the core talent to be optimistic about, even if things go south again this season.

Don't care for the Shanks thing but he's saying what reality is for the Braves. They won't pay him. Whether you believe it's injury concerns or whatever, the payday he'll command is out of the Braves universal funding plans. I'll hate it but understand it.

With the possible lock out in 27 it’d make sense to work on an extension this spring/season. If he doesn’t agree then an Acuna trade could almost skip the hard part of a rebuild

AA saw the Mets make a massive move for superstar Jorge Polanco and has not responded with a move to improve the major-league team. Unbelievable, man.
