2025 Trade Deadline Thread

Burn it down is harsh, but this seems to be a trade deadline almost like last years failed deadline moves (non moves). Nothing has or hadn't happened yet, but shit play hasn't been a one year deal. It's been longer than that in the making. Cumulating in the abomination we see before us.
 
I don't think Holmes by himself is gonna be worth it. He could possible be packaged with somebody else for a larger return but I would probably hang onto him since the rest of the rotation is so fragile.

We still have 5 days left but there seems to be a lot of good relievers out there and that hurts everybody. Most people won't eat money so hopefully AA is willing to eat their salary the rest of the year to get a better return.

If some team values him as a mid rotation pitcher, it's something you have to consider. I find it unlikely he repeats this type of season as a starter. Or 0he simply won't stay healthy.

Braves literally made the playoffs last year.

Th options the Braves have are not good enough to be 5th/6th MLB SPs. Just because you knew their name doesn’t mean they are good enough. They are garbage.

Holmes is the guy who belongs in the 5/6 spot of the rotation. Trading him away and then relying on terrible options like elder and Waldrep is beyond foolish.

Loterally Nobody will value him as a mid rotation starter because leaders of contending teams aren’t idiots. He’s a backend SP, and he should be filling the back of the Braves rotation in 2026.

I'm with you. Holmes is cheap, durable, and not terrible. He's a perfect back end starter and there's zero reason to open a hole in the roster by trading him. You always listen on every player in case someone offers you something stupid but that's not likely. No reason to open a hole in the roster for next year hoping we'll have someone who can fill it.
 
I do think the Braves have rotation depth pitching prospect types getting closer.

They probably need to sign the next elder statesman type to a fair deal this offseason.

Coming into today, he had the 7th highest K/9 in the NL. 3.81 ERA. 3.90 xFIP. .314 wOBA.

Was Charlie Morton a mid rotation pitcher for us in his time here in Atlanta? Because that is pretty close to the type of production that Charlie Morton gave us.

But it doesn't matter now. He's going to the IL for who knows how long. We've now lost every single pitcher from our opening day rotation. Lovely.

I’m talking about the upper level prospects like Ritchie and Murphy, not the AAAA flotsam. And there’s more reason to think they’ll be good enough beyond “I know their names”—but I’m glad to see you’re keeping up with bad faith arguments despite the Braves’ swoon this season.

It’s a moot point, nevertheless, with Holmes on the IL now.
