Yeah. This is basically a Withrow for Thomas deal. Everything else is fluff.
 
The pfascination with acquiring pitchers that have already had TJ surgery is mind boggling. It must be a cost cutting move, no pun intended.
 
Its not impossible that Uribe could help the team win some games this year and if he goes back to producing like he has the last two years then you know what that means!?!?!?!?!?!
 
One of the oddest deals I can remember. Makes me think LA just wanted to get out of Uribe's salary and put him in a spot to let him play and make him happy.

We lose nothing and gain another TJ recovery case study.

agree.

A pitcher coming off TJ and a back surgery is a little concerning. But we've already DFA Jamie. Thomas is a guy that the Braves can grow on trees and we prob DFA. The other guys are not part of the present or future.

We have the kid from the Rockies coming off of TJ late in the second half too. Viz coming off suspension. We could add some power arms late in the year and really upgrade the bullpen.

I think folks need to go back and look at what Uribe has done recently.

I care about Uribe... He's a significant upgrade over what we have this year.

Uribe + Withrow is around $7m. Callaspo + Stults +Jaime is around $5.5m. I'm not counting Thomas, since I expect him to be on a split contract in AAA. Jaime is guaranteed the MLB minimum since he was on the OD roster. So that's a $1.5m difference when you look at the full season. Given that ~25% of the season has passed, the real difference is a little over $1m.
 
If this guy and Simmons can get healthy then that will really transform the pen without really giving up anything. Two legit back end of the bullpen guys. Just need to hope they can come back.
