Eric Garner doesn't get justice

You can ask a cop to leave you alone if you're not committing a crime. My uncle was pulled over several times by the same cop while not committing a real infraction and threatened him with a harrassment complaint. Guess he should have been choked out.

What was the purpose of him pulling him over? Did he file a complaint with the local department?

ok, tell me where i should fast forward where i can hear the cop say "you are being arrested for..."

cause i have watched that video

Right at the beginning when Garner talks about cigarettes.

no they didn't

transcript of Garner:
“Get away [garbled] … for what? Every time you see me, you want to mess with me. I’m tired of it. It stops today. Why would you…? Everyone standing here will tell you I didn’t do nothing. I did not sell nothing. Because every time you see me, you want to harass me. You want to stop me (garbled) Selling cigarettes. I’m minding my business, officer, I’m minding my business. Please just leave me alone. I told you the last time, please just leave me alone. please please, don’t touch me. Do not touch me.”

Maybe you aren't listening

i you would like to point to the exact second where i can fast forward in that video so i can hear what you are hearing

i will do it

but i have yet to see a video that shows them saying that he was being arrested for something.

look at the transcript of Garner

they are having a conversation about why he was stopped. he wasn't being arrested during the 1:15mark. they were sitting there talking and Garner is obviously tired of being harassed

then it turns into a cop grabbing him with a chokehold and the only thing anyone on the law side has said was that Garner was "suspicious of selling cigs"

never was there a time the cops said to stop talking and that you are under arrest for "whatever"

Its funny how you spin verbiage your way......

First time I've watched the full video. I had always thought the officer kept the choke hold on him after he said he couldn't breathe. I was under the assumption the chokehold was held for much longer than that. I also always believed that as long as you could talk then you could breathe ok, but maybe that's an old wives tale. I guess it is since the the man is dead.

But yeah looking at this video reasonably, I don't see anyway he could be charged with murder there. Manslaughter charge is iffy. But I doubt any chance he would have been convicted. I can see now why the grand jury did not indict him.

Now, I'm looking at this legally only. Do I think the police should remove chokehold takedowns if possible? Yes, and in fact supposedly NYPD already has a policy against this. But it's technically legal. My guess is that this will lead to chokehold's becoming illegal in the state of New York. And hey maybe it will also lead to more tasings and gun usage from police in New York!

uh

are you really saying, the cop said "you're under arrest" at the 1:15 mark

and that it isn't him answering Garners question about being harassed?

Why is Garner getting hostile and argumentative if they are just shooting the ****?

In all fairness, it wasn't even the chokehold that killed him. It was the hand pressing his face onto the pavement and the six knees on his back and sides.

He does let go, though I don't think he should ever have been in that position. Unfortunately the cops trying to take him into custody, his resistance, and the victim’s asthma, obesity and high blood pressure were contributing factors in his death
