Bobby actually put players in the best position to succeed. Fredi only talks about it.

I remember when he used to put Darren Bragg to lead off. Or how about Keith Lockhart over Marcus Giles? Omar Infante leading off? Kelly Johnson in the 3 hole when he first got called up and goes 0-25?

Your own personal bias' distorts the actual reality that he manages just like Bobby used to manage for the most part. There'a also other variables and factors that Fredi has to deal with that Bobby never had to that we'll never know how Bobby would handle in today's climate with today's generation of players.

You guys are taking it too far. When I read that quote I read Bobby speak. Fredi isn't going to publicly trash his players.

It wouldn't be trashing anyone to say

"We are going to give Bonifacio a look at leadoff and CF."

Darren Bragg batted 1st (in Atlanta) for 1 PA, and he was hit by a pitch.

Omar performed very well batting 1st -

I know you are probably kidding, but Bragg had a nice first year with the Braves. His second was a disaster.

I'm surprised there's so much focus on Fredi's strategy, in game decsion's by managers are ridiculously easy to second guess and pretty meaningless in the overall scheme of things re where a team ends up in the standings. The big problem is his leadership, or lack thereof. He's a"players manager" and that doesn't work very well when a team is sucking.

His natural tendancy is let the guys play, they'll work thru it. That nonsense needs to stop. What he needs to do is kick some ass and he isn't any good at that.

Baseball people didn't realize the value of OBP back then the way they do now. In those days managers wanted a fast guy with a good BA leading off.

There's no excuse for that kind of thinking given the statistical tools and knowledge we have today.
