Fredi Gonzalez Rant Thread.

Bobby actually put players in the best position to succeed. Fredi only talks about it.

Hahaha ok...

I remember when he used to put Darren Bragg to lead off. Or how about Keith Lockhart over Marcus Giles? Omar Infante leading off? Kelly Johnson in the 3 hole when he first got called up and goes 0-25?

Your own personal bias' distorts the actual reality that he manages just like Bobby used to manage for the most part. There'a also other variables and factors that Fredi has to deal with that Bobby never had to that we'll never know how Bobby would handle in today's climate with today's generation of players.

Fredi manages like Bobby in the same way Mel Odom writes like Tolkien.

Darren Bragg batted 1st (in Atlanta) for 1 PA, and he was hit by a pitch.

Omar performed very well batting 1st -

2008: .333 .353 .400 .753
2009: .323 .404 .441 .845
2010: .305 .349 .418 .767

And Bobby managed a long time, so we could all search back and find a few times he did something crazy or stupid. Fredi does something crazy or stupid on a weekly basis.

Also, as I get my tongue out of my cheek. It's amazing how quiet the "move La Stella back to the 7 hole" group has gotten.

Darren Bragg even being on the active roster, much less actually being allowed to bat, was a far greater offense than batting BJ or anyone else in the leadoff spot.

I know you are probably kidding, but Bragg had a nice first year with the Braves. His second was a disaster.

Obviously it's Fredi's fault we scored 1 run, and Minor got rocked, again.

When all else fails, BLAME FREDI WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Fixed it for ya. Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration but not by much.

While with the Blue Jays Bobby liked to bat Damasco Garcia leadoff. He stuck with him there for all of the 1985 season, when Garcia had an OBP of .302. Crazy stuff.

Yeah. I guess La Stella "learned" how to bat second faster than they expected.

I'm surprised there's so much focus on Fredi's strategy, in game decsion's by managers are ridiculously easy to second guess and pretty meaningless in the overall scheme of things re where a team ends up in the standings. The big problem is his leadership, or lack thereof. He's a"players manager" and that doesn't work very well when a team is sucking.

His natural tendancy is let the guys play, they'll work thru it. That nonsense needs to stop. What he needs to do is kick some ass and he isn't any good at that.

Baseball people didn't realize the value of OBP back then the way they do now. In those days managers wanted a fast guy with a good BA leading off.

There's no excuse for that kind of thinking given the statistical tools and knowledge we have today.
