I think Avilan will be ok but agree with KL.
Walden should be set-up.
But, i'd give Ian Thomas a bigger role in the pen.
I figured Carp would regress a bit but not like this...
I know what you're saying, but it's not about desire. It's about self control and self control is an integral part of performance. I get pissed off a lot too, but know not to go into a cussing fit every time things don't go my way. It doesn't change a thing and you look childish.
Kimbrel knew he was done as soon as Fredi came out of the dugout and raised his right hand. His argument was over at that point. If he just had to protest at least he could've had the courtesy to cover his mouth with his glove.
Glad it's over. We're 12-5 and the Nats lost.
Carpenter was basically the 6th inning guy at the start of the season. Then EOF went down, was moved up to the 7th with Avilan. Walden got hurt after the all-star break, Carp moved up to 8th and Avilan was the situational guy in the 7th or 8th depending on the lefty match ups. Now Walden is the 7th inning guy, Carp 8th but it needs to be reversed.
And yes Thomas has earned a shot at a bigger role in the situational innings at the end of the game.
I'll say this for Justin Upton: that man does not strut in vain. When he breaks out the home run strut, that ball is going over the fence. I don't think I've ever seen it burn him, even on the wall scrapers.

He may prove me wrong, but I think Carpenter is proof of the old adage that "anyone can have a month." He was unhittable late in 2013, but his control was never much to write home about. He just got into this groove last season where it all came together for him. Maybe he gets it back.
I still am not overly worried about our BP. I don't know if it's because of how early it is or maybe I'm being naive, but I trust CK, Avilan, Walden and Thomas a good amount. I like Carp's stuff, so I personally am alright with him. Varvaro and Schlosser are the two I don't trust. I wouldn't be against a move to look for another arm at all. I think Hale comes to the BP when he's back and I love that move. Varvaro just scares me, a lot.
