One thing I think people do a lot of is conflating the concept of Communism with the real-life examples of governments that are described as such. I don’t actually know that Socialism or Communism as an idea is the problem, it’s that once the reality of governing and human nature is factored in it’s untenable. Capitalism has the same pitfalls. In a vacuum neither is necessarily bad, but the nature of Communism and Socialism lead more directly to an overly powerful State. So I don’t really begrudge the college kids who embrace the ideologies because it’s ideologically fine. It’s when they can’t recognize the issues in practicality that I think they should be roundly mocked.

The elderly and stay at home moms can still be net taxpayers with investment income. College students seem unlikely unless they get great summer jobs/internships. I was a net payer at 17 so 18 year olds in the workforce certainly could.

Does this also mean that non-citizens get to vote. My friend who's a Greencard Immigrant but non-citizen (wants the option to go back to the UK if he needs it) now gets to vote because he's paid a bunch more taxes than a lot of people I know. Or should non-immigrants be exempt from income taxes?

Your first sentence is blatantly false. The rest of your first paragraph would be correct. The second paragraph answer is that your friend obviously wouldn’t vote because he isn’t a citizen.

Whether or not I think highly of their ability to make smart political choices is irrelevant to whether or not they deserve that right to make those choices. That is literally what democracy is.

We live in a republic, specifically so that people thought to be best suited to making decisions for the country can do so. My plan seems more in line with that than the current model.

The ideology requires the forced labor of everyone. In a communist system, nobody would volunteer to do sewage work, but it is necessary, so the state must force jaw to get his ass down there or be imprisoned or killed

Do you think people work in the sewers of America because of their love of sewage? Or that I go to work each day for cultural enrichment?

No. They go to work voluntarily because we pay them a higher salary than we pay an article teacher

Must they really, though? You can still offer someone specific economic advantages under a Communist economy.
