Braves trade Wisler, Sims, Tucker to Reds for Adam Duvall

So far we've added quality pieces in Duvall, Venters and Brach and given up 500K in useless international money, Wisler and replacement players. AA has done a nice job at the deadline improving the team without paying a significant price.

I don’t really agree. He’s added some flawed players at relatively little cost and hasn’t necessarily improved the team a great deal.

I think he’s done the bare minimum and it’s questionable whether Duvall was the most efficient use of even those very modest resources.

I’ll wait to see if there are any bigger moves coming.

You can’t be serious.

The price is fine but nothing about the fit makes sense unless he replaces Marky in RF next season. How did Ender go from an All-Star to a platoon player so fast? If the Braves weren't really worried about Ender then why pick up someone on a longer deal and not a rental.

I’m not following your reasoning. The fit makes sense this year. Who knows about next year, but I seriously doubt Duvall is the replacement plan for Markakis.

I actually agree with you on your main points. He has added some flawed players for little cost and not necessarily improved our team. But I think he's making some good bets. Brach is a really nice bet to add some value down the stretch. Venters is what he is. Duvall is likely to be a nice RH hitter down the stretch. Is it guaranteed to get us a playoff spot? Of course not, but I think these move improve our chances at little cost.

We prefer paying more for control.

Will be interesting to see if there are better rh bats who could hold down a corner that get moved for less.

I’m not killing him for what he’s done, I just don’t think he’s done very much.

So I’m not inclined to tip my hat or give him a hand.

This could all work out well of course. They aren’t terrible bets.

I don't understand leaving a 31 homer bat mostly on the bench not to mention he's among the players that lead the league in runs saved in LF.

I think that's fair, but I think it's also fair to point out that I think he's marginally improved the team without giving up very much.

He'd made the team better without gutting the farm. Hard to complain.

Because I’m trading gold glove defense in center for what figures to be below average cf defense from Acuna.

And I think ender is more like a 20% below average hitter vs left than the 50% he’s shown.

You have not read the scouting reports about Acuna in center. He may not be GG yet, but keep in mind his age. He seems to be re-energized with his move to leadoff, and I believe he will be close to top shelf defender. We've been spoiled with Andruw and Ender, to be sure.

I still expected Wisler to become a contributor, but it's hard to argue about the cost or the reasoning. Its been painful to look at the pinch hit options on our bench this year. Duvall/Inciarte is a huge step up in that department.
