4/27 @BOS - Knuckling Under

Has Aybar made a slicker play this year than the turn of the double play to end the fifth inning?

"Ortiz just had his third double, and at this rate, I may join him."
--Chip Caray during tonight's broadcast.

Good. Some of the decisions they have made are a complete joke. Now whether this team is 4-17 or 8-13 doesn't really matter. I expected this team to be bad because there just isn't a lot of talent on it. But some of the choices they made like bringing back AJP and the Olivera trade shows a lack of judging talent and looking at predictive stats. AJP for example is one of the worst pitching framing catchers in baseball. Yet we let him handle the pitching staff and wonder why ERA's start to balloon. These are small issues right now because we are rebuilding and who cares right? Well if that same thought process carries over to when the young guys come up then things can get bad quickly.

Exactly.

Gant didn't do bad in long relief tonight, two runs but really his main mistake was to Ortiz. That other RBI hit came on a good pitch. Too many walks though. I hope he either stays in rotation or goes back down to start. If they put him back in a long relief bullpen role after he started there and just got stretched back out I'll be pissed. It is not good to go back and forth so often with him like that, esp. the way Fredi will use him. Fredi will have him pitch a few innings again a few days from now if they do so. Then later you gotta stretch him out again, that yo-yo stuff can hurt a pitcher.

I win!

Note, I said in the who will hit our next homer thread that it will be Freeman or Garcia. It was Freeman so I win, but I did give two players so helped my odds I suppose. :)

Since Bud is so kind to the opposition, should we start telling the teams we face before game "This Bud is for you"? :)

LOL @ that. I told you AJP can't catch a damn cold much less a ball!

Next pitch homer, hat tip to AJP for missing another damn ball.
