I don't see it happening, but if you signed rodon, it would be possible. Again, doubt it
I’d be completely shocked. But AA has shown that nobody is above the team.

I still DO NOT understand why AA made this deal smh. I'm still sitting here with my mouth wide open. 5 players given up for 1 guy and the Brewers robbing both teams.
How soon they forget the legend of one Sean Newcomb. He'll always be the best one.I wouldn’t worry about it. Sean will be the best Murphy in Braves history. I doubt we’ll even be able to think of a close second.

Newcomb sacrificed himself so that we could get Murphy. The second best Murphy ever to wear a Braves uniform. But that sacrificed the great Bill Contreras, the second best Bill in Braves lore next to Bill Shan.....Um..Nevermind. Enough.Sean Newcomb Murphy? Never heard of him.
well since we will have no catcher in 3 years now, we almost have to.. but I doubt he can extend him this year and take the hit on the luxury tax. Any extention will have to be in the next 2 years as money comes off the books.
Why would you have to do that?
Signing him to an extension that includes the 2023 season would significantly raise the tax hit for 2023. Right now it's an estimated 3.5 million hit. Wouldn't necessarily matter if they end up going over it anyways but I seriously doubt they will.
Doubt they sign him to an extension or go over the tax?
Go over the luxury tax. I wouldn't be shocked at all if Murphy is extended next off season once some money falls off.

I did not expect to leave the Braves organization in this way , but I am here thanking you for all the opportunities they gave me , I knew how to make the most of them , thanks to the fans for giving me their support
We basically have no choice but to go over this year at least lol.
$4M salary in 2023, but a $12.5M luxury tax hit. The Braves are now going to be paying the luxury tax, and are probably the only team in MLB history paying tax on salaries for a they aren’t actually paying that season. A very interesting way to chase “value”.
Murphy would have been a FA going into his age 31 season. Barring a significant injury he would have easily beaten the 3/45 guarantee the Braves just gave him for his early FA seasons.
I’m not familiar with how the luxury tax works, but why is his 4 million salary being counted as a 12.5 million luxury hit? Since we’re over now, do you think we spend more? Maybe jump into the Correa sweepstakes? Doubtful I know but why go over the luxury tax now?
