Robert Murray of MLBDailyRumors.com reports that the Padres are no longer in the running for Cuban infielder Hector Olivera.
Murray says the Padres were unwilling to give Olivera the six-year contract he sought. He adds that it "sounds like" the A's, Dodgers and Braves are willing to go to six years and a decision from Olivera is expected to come this weekend. Olivera will turn 30 in a couple weeks and has some health concerns, so it's a bit surprising that teams are apparently willing to give him a six-year deal. That said, scouts seem to be unanimous in thinking that he'll have an impact bat at the big league level.
