If you are referring to Jace as garbage, you will eat your words.
I don't even know who this Jace person is. I assume he was traded for in one of our awesome trades this past season.

Exactly the reason why your posts are about as good as nonsense right now.
If we do end up signing Olivera, he better not be playing 2nd and knock Jace out, cause that guy is really tough and needs to be starting on this team. Olivera needs to play either 3rd or left field if we get him.
I'm prepared to be let down... but this will really suck with how long its been drawn out. I do think Olivera will have 2-3 years of being very good/elite.

Never got my hopes up. If the "favorites" in the bidding really want Olivera, the Braves have little chance. We all want Liberty to spend some money on making the team better, but overspending traps teams in a mess a la Melvin/Uggla. (Though neither of those would have been overspending had they performed as hoped.)
I don't know... think we had a legit chance for this one... seems like Gonzalez/Tosca had some sway. Plus Toscano also had his old agent. Still don't think its a done deal as all this talk may just be a tool to get more money out of the Braves... but I'm not counting on it.
And I think the Brave's rumored offer of $10 mil per year was more than fair... hard to commit to more than that when there are still so many questions even though I think he will be very good.
Robert Murray of MLBDailyRumors.com reports that the Padres are no longer in the running for Cuban infielder Hector Olivera.
Murray says the Padres were unwilling to give Olivera the six-year contract he sought. He adds that it "sounds like" the A's, Dodgers and Braves are willing to go to six years and a decision from Olivera is expected to come this weekend. Olivera will turn 30 in a couple weeks and has some health concerns, so it's a bit surprising that teams are apparently willing to give him a six-year deal. That said, scouts seem to be unanimous in thinking that he'll have an impact bat at the big league level.

If Dodgers are involved, anyone really think we have shot?
If there are health concerns for a 30 year old Cuban player, it would be insane to give him a 6 year deal. Not even sure how well he translates and it its well, for how long?
Personally, I don't trust Murray's sources because his track record is all over the place (including all the rumors from him thus far on Olivera). I also don't believe the Braves will go six years on Olivera.

Couldn't agree more 76. Murray has been consistently wrong. I think the guy is about 14 years old.
Everyone knows if the Dodgers want him we cannot outbid them. So if they want him bad enough he'll be a Dodger. I doubt they will offer him six years though and I'd be shocked if we did.
That said, I am not fully convinced the Dodgers have truly been all that involved yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they passed altogether and that they're just being used in an effort to up others bids. Of course they could just be waiting it out to get him as low as possible. The Dodgers have second and third set right now so it's not like they need to hurry anything.
