Keith Law ranks Braves system #1 in midseason update

Sorry, but Smoltz and Glavine, along with Maddux, were once in a lifetime. And they still only won once. A winning team has great chemistry. The Braves are trying to acquire that. I am disappointed with the accumulation of so many pitchers, but teams are loathe to give up power hitting talent.

Braves trade CJ for Swisher, Bourn, $$$

This. I would rather watch Bourn and Swisher any day of the week....than CJ phoning it in with one mental error after another.

    Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

If they are going to bring up young pitchers, then maybe they think AJ will be important for the new guys versus using Bethancourt. That's my take. They got more than they realized with AJ....might not be the total a-hole that others have portrayed him as.

7/5/15 GDT: Braves, Miller try to keep the line moving vs. Phillies

Yup...it was worth a shot. Kelly is a great base runner.

5/4/15 Phillies at Braves 7:10 PM GDT

That's Maybin's problem in a nutshell. He wants so badly to do well, that he can't control himself in those situations. It would be better to take a called third with a pitcher like that and tip your cap. IMHO

GDT: 4/7/'15 - Atlanta Braves (Wood) @ Miami Marlins (Latos) 7:35PM EST

And we will still have great pitching.

GDT: 4/7/'15 - Atlanta Braves (Wood) @ Miami Marlins (Latos) 7:35PM EST

Exactly. Putting the ball in play will make this team a lot more interesting to watch than last year. I'm 100% excited, because they don't seem to be giving at bats away.

    I miss Chipper

    Yes, but not like Chipper.

    I miss Chipper

It's kinda sad that we've only had one position player like that in the last 20 years or so. I know HOFers are hard to come by, but there is no one even close IMHO.

    Pete Rose

And I certainly never minded his punishment, but to keep it open ended is overkill. To most folks...Pete is a HOFer....so letting him in would only be a big deal to the media. And I think it would be good for baseball in the long run. Moving on from something negative is always good.

    Pete Rose

I would be willing to bet....that a lot of baseball executives, coaches, and players gambled on games. Rich people bet all kinds of money on all kinds of things.

    Pete Rose

Why does it always come down to taking away someone's work or their ability to make a living? I don't get it. We want people to work, don't we? What is enough punishment?

    Pete Rose

Pete Rose did not kill anyone, so it's ridiculous to imply that what he did is so much worse than any other athletic transgression we've been witnessed to or have heard of. He paid a big price for what he did....all the way around. It's wrong to keep punishing someone for absolutely no reason...

    Spring Training 2015

Both are better than BJ Melvin.....that's all I care about.

    Spring Training 2015

He had a good spring and he's still not making the team. It has to be frustrating......

    Spring Training 2015

It was better at the start of spring training, but lately it seems like the same old thing. Believe me, I'm hoping I'm wrong.

    Spring Training 2015

Not sure why someone that athletic would be satisfied with such an out of control swing.

    Spring Training 2015

Me too. He's been my favorite player since 2005, and I haven't given up on him. Plus, he's made a very good living being mediocre. So I have to give him full credit. :happy0157:

    Spring Training 2015

I agree, KJ is the only one with power in that mix. I would think they'd want the possibility of some kind of power on the bench. But they are moving in a supposed different direction.
